According to the monitoring of the vegetable production Information Network of the Ministry of Agriculture, the supply of vegetables increased in October compared with the same period last year. Wholesale prices of vegetables fell compared with the same period last year, but rose month-on-month. November entered the off-season of vegetable production, vegetable supply is expected to be basically stable, prices are steadily rising.

Vegetable supply increased in October compared with the same period last year and month-on-month. The output of vegetables at the information monitoring sites in 580 key vegetable counties was 1.11 million tons, an increase of 4.1 percent over the same period last year and 3.6 percent from the previous month. From a regional point of view, it shows the characteristics of "four increases and two decreases". Due to the concentrated harvest of a large number of processed chili peppers in Xinjiang this month, the yield of summer and autumn vegetables in the northern high latitudes increased by 13.8% compared with the same period last year; the yield of summer and autumn vegetables in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau increased by 12.7%, mainly due to a large increase in the sown area of chili peppers in Guizhou, and by 5.6% and 3.8% in Huang-Huaihai, Bohai Rim and Loess Plateau, respectively. The output of the dominant areas of winter and spring vegetables in the Yangtze River Basin and the hot areas of South China and Southwest China decreased by 6.5% and 3.9% respectively compared with the same period last year. In terms of types, among the 20 types of vegetables, the output of 8 categories of vegetables, such as cabbage, cowpea, pepper, bean, celery, Chinese cabbage, tomato and cauliflower, increased by more than 3% compared with the same period last year, among which, due to the increase in sown area and per unit yield in Shandong, the yield of cabbage increased significantly; the output of carrots, spinach, radish, zucchini, common cabbage and green onions decreased by more than 3% compared with the same period last year, and the output of other kinds of vegetables was basically stable.

The wholesale price of vegetables fell in October compared with the same period last year, and continued to rise from the previous month. In October, the average wholesale price of vegetables at the information monitoring sites in 580 key vegetable counties was 2.96 yuan / kg, down 8.9% from the same period last year and up 6.1% from the previous month. The ten-day price is 2.97 yuan / kg, 3.00 yuan / kg and 2.90 yuan / kg respectively. In terms of varieties, 16 kinds of vegetables rose more than 10% month-on-month, of which cherry tomato and round eggplant rose greatly, up 41.0% and 40.8% respectively, and three kinds of vegetables fell more than 10% month-on-month, among which common cabbage and purple garlic fell by 21.5% and 20.5% respectively.

Vegetable supply is expected to be basically stable and prices are expected to rise steadily in November. According to statistics, the area of vegetables in the field at the information monitoring sites of 580 key vegetable counties at the end of October was 1.32 million mu, an increase of 3.9% over the same period last year and a decrease of 5.1% from the previous month. Among them, the field area of 8 types of vegetables, such as wax gourd, tomato, cauliflower, radish, celery, bean, pepper and Chinese cabbage, increased by more than 3% at the end of the month compared with the same period last year, especially 2 kinds of vegetables such as wax gourd and tomato. Experts analyzed that as the temperature dropped in November, vegetable production entered the off-season. Due to the increase in the area of vegetables transported from the south to the north and the facilities in the north, the total supply of vegetables is expected to be stable, but the price will rise.
