The industry standard of "native chicken" and "native egg" in China is about to appear.
"native chicken", "native egg" and "ecological chicken" have been favored by consumers in recent years because of their original ecology, high nutrition and traditional taste. However, because there is no national standard or provincial standard for the raising of ecological native chicken and its product "native egg", the whole local chicken breeding and product market are mixed with different prices, which makes it difficult for consumers to distinguish between true and false.
Recently, the author learned from the second Local Chicken Industry Development Conference in Hubei Province that in order to solve the dilemma that it is difficult for consumers to buy and farmers to sell real ecological native chickens and eggs, four units, namely, China Agricultural University, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hubei Provincial Poultry Association and Hubei Qingshan Lushui Ecological stocking Association, are drawing up the Hubei Provincial Ecological Native Chicken raising and Product Standard, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Cai Chuanpeng, director of Hubei Animal Husbandry Technology Promotion Station, told me that after the adoption of the standard, it will first be promoted and tried out in breeding enterprises in Hubei Province. At that time, the ecological native chicken breeding environment, feed composition, "native eggs" weight, size, color, etc. will have a unified standard, eggs will be marked with a QR code, and the whole process of breeding sales can be traced back.
According to the author's investigation, the label of "native egg" in the Chinese market is unclear, and the price is chaotic. In addition to the written instructions on the boxes that generally pack "native eggs" in the market, such as "native eggs" and green, pollution-free breeding, there are no other words marking the standard of "native eggs". However, in the egg area of some large supermarkets, all kinds of "native eggs" have become the mainstream on containers, with many brands and different prices. The author also noticed that the packaging of these "native eggs" are mostly marked with information such as origin, market, no hormone, no drug residue, epidemic prevention, security inspection and nutritional value, etc., and it is difficult to see the professional standard information about "native eggs". "there is no standard for raising and producing ecological native chickens, and most 'native eggs' will only show green, pollution-free and other signs." At the second local chicken industry development conference, Wang Zhongqiang, secretary-general of the Hubei Provincial Green Mountain and Green Water Ecological stocking Local Chicken Professional Cooperation Association, said that because there are neither local standards nor national standards for raising and producing ecological native chickens, almost every manufacturer can "produce native eggs." Wang Zhongqiang said: at present, the price of ecological "native eggs" in the market varies greatly, and it is difficult to distinguish between true and false. The main reason is that there is no authoritative standard for raising ecological native chickens, and if there is no label for caged products, the market will be relatively chaotic. "some citizens have to go to the countryside in person to buy authentic 'native eggs', but the quantity is limited." Wang Zhongqiang said.
Farmers are difficult to sell, consumers are difficult to buy, and market demand continues to grow. "it is precisely in order to solve this contradiction in the ecological 'native egg' market that we have set up a federation of specialized cooperatives for ecological stocking native chickens, and more than 30 large-scale ecological native chicken farming cooperatives in Jingmen, Yichang, Shiyan and other provinces have joined forces to enter the market." Cai Chuanpeng said that this association is also the first ecological local chicken association in the country. As secretary-general of the Associated Press, Wang Zhongqiang has reached a consensus with the heads of member units that they will implement unified and standardized production and create a unified brand of ecological native chicken products in Hubei Province. Wang Zhongqiang told me that before the standard is released, all 6113 farmers of the Associated Press will be raised in accordance with the standards being developed. "Hubei ecological 'native eggs' produced in accordance with the standard will be marked with a unified brand logo, through QR code traceability technology, so that consumers can identify pure ecological 'native eggs' and buy more at ease." Wang Zhongqiang said.
