Recently, the China Academy of Aquatic Sciences, Beiche Shipping and Ocean Engineering Development Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Chonghe Industrial Co., Ltd. signed a tripartite strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing, which marks the substantive promotion of China's first far-reaching mariculture platform project.

It is understood that at present, China's aquaculture output accounts for 70% of the world's total, making it a veritable aquaculture country. However, as China's inland and offshore aquaculture space is gradually squeezed by other industries and the water quality environment continues to deteriorate, the future growth space of aquaculture industry is worrying.

The "Deep Sea large Culture platform", independently developed by the above-mentioned units, is converted from a 100, 000-ton Aphra oil tanker and can provide nearly 80, 000 cubic meters of aquaculture water. Relying on the system platform formed by the whole ship platform, seedling hatching and breeding, logistics processing and digital information control, it can meet the requirements of marine culture within 3000 meters of water depth. At the same time, it has multiple superior functions of resisting super typhoon of grade 12 or above. The platform also focuses on coastal defense, material supply of ocean-going fishing vessels, transit processing of seafood, warehousing and logistics, emergency rescue and other auxiliary functions, in order to fully support China's marine resources industrialization strategy.

Academician Lei Shulin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering believes that safe and reliable facilities and equipment are the key to the development of far-reaching marine aquaculture. The construction of the "deep-sea large-scale aquaculture platform" is based on China's industrial aquaculture, marine engineering equipment, catch processing and other technologies to carry out system integration and model innovation. it shows the foresight of China's R & D and manufacturing capability and strategic layout of facilities and equipment in the deep sea super-large aquaculture platform. The construction of the platform is expected to be combined with fishing vessels to form an "aircraft carrier fleet" that gathers far-reaching seas and oceans and continues to carry out fishery production.
