Professional harmless treatment farms should be established in major breeding counties.

The Ministry of Agriculture, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Finance and the China Insurance Regulatory Commission jointly held a teleconference on the harmless treatment mechanism of sick and dead livestock and poultry today. The meeting demanded that all regions make every effort to promote the construction of a mechanism for harmless treatment of sick and dead livestock and poultry, strive to ensure that sick and dead livestock and poultry basically achieve harmless treatment, and fundamentally solve the problem of abandoning sick and dead livestock and poultry at will.

Minister of Agriculture Han Changfu said that the establishment of a harmless treatment mechanism for sick and dead livestock and poultry is an urgent need to promote the construction of ecological civilization. Large counties for live pigs and poultry breeding counties with an annual breeding capacity of more than 50 million pigs should, in principle, set up professional harmless treatment farms in each county. All large-scale farm households should be incorporated into the harmless treatment system through self-built facilities or entrusted treatment. All localities should be based on local reality, further refine the implementation of policies and measures, promote the transformation and upgrading of the livestock and poultry breeding industry, and constantly improve the level of standardization and large-scale breeding.
