Bureau of Statistics: total grain output increased by 10.3 billion jin in 2014
Beijing, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) according to the news released on the website of the National Bureau of Statistics on the 4th, the National Bureau of Statistics conducted a sample survey of agricultural production and operation households and comprehensive statistics of agricultural production and management units in 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country. The country's total grain output was 607.099 million tons (1.2142 trillion jin), an increase of 5.16 million tons (10.32 billion jin) over 2013, an increase of 0.9 percent. Of this total, the total grain output was 557.269 million tons (1.11454 trillion jin), an increase of 4.577 million tons (9.15 billion jin) or 0.8 per cent over 2013.
According to statistics, the sown area of grain in 2014 was 112738.3 thousand hectares (1.691074 billion mu), an increase of 782.7 thousand hectares (11.741 million mu) or 0.7 percent over 2013. Among them, the sown area of grain is 94622.8 thousand hectares (1.419341 billion mu), an increase of 854.1 thousand hectares (12.812 million mu) over 2013, an increase of 0.9 percent.
Grain output per unit area also increased slightly. In 2014, the national grain output per unit area was 5385 kg / ha (359kg / mu), an increase of 8.4kg / ha (0.6kg / mu) or 0.2 per cent over 2013. Of this total, the yield per unit area of grain was 5889.4 kg / ha (392.6 kg / mu), a decrease of 4.8kg / ha (0.3kg / mu) or 0.1 per cent compared with 2013.
