Last Updated: 2024/09/20, Many people reflect that it always loses its leaves when raising yew. Why is that? It may be because the water is watered too much, causing the water to accumulate in the flower soil to make its roots rot, or it may be because it has not been pruned for a long time, so that the branches below it grow too vigorously, consuming a lot of nutrients, or suffering from diseases and insect pests. At this time, we need to take corresponding solutions according to the different causes.

First, caused by watering

When watering, do not pay attention to the amount of water and times, or put outside in case of heavy rain did not drain it in time, it will be easy to make the basin soil too wet, when the root is in a humid environment for a long time, it will begin to rot, and the leaves will naturally begin to fall.

Solution: when watering, it should be judged according to the situation of the basin soil. When the surface of the basin soil becomes yellow and white and the leaves are slightly curled, don't rush to water it, just spray it. If you keep it indoors, it's best to water it every 20 to 25 days, and if you keep it outdoors, it's best to water it every 15 to 20 days. In case of heavy rain, it is necessary to suspend watering and drain the stagnant water from the basin. If there are symptoms of falling leaves, then we can replace it with new flower soil without stagnant water.

Second, caused by not pruning for a long time

During maintenance, if it is not pruned for a long time, the branches below will grow too much and consume more nutrients, so that the leaves will begin to fall.

Solution: too many branches and leaves in the lower part can be cut off, and when trimming, it can be trimmed into a variety of shapes, such as umbrella shape, circle and so on. This pruning can greatly reduce the nutrient consumption of branches and leaves, so that the roots begin to grow normally, and the leaves will no longer fall. In addition, in order to keep the yew in perfect shape, its terminal buds and some lateral branches can be removed properly.

Third, caused by diseases and insect pests

Some yew in the high temperature or dry season, it is easy to cause a variety of diseases and insect pests, the first to be hurt is the leaves, there will be the phenomenon of fallen leaves.

Solution: we should use some drug spraying treatment to prevent the spread of diseases and insect pests.
