At present, the acquisition of medium and late indica rice in the main producing areas has come to an end. Under the support of the lowest purchase price policy, the purchase price of middle and late indica rice in the main producing areas is relatively strong. The purchase price of policy-oriented acquisition subjects remains at 1.38 yuan per jin, while the purchase prices of other acquisition entities are slightly lower. Due to the weak sales in the rice market, the price of middle and late indica rice rose weakly in the later stage, and it is expected to fluctuate slightly in the short term.

According to statistics, as of December 15, various grain enterprises in 13 major middle and late indica rice producing areas, including Hubei and Anhui, had purchased a total of 21.66 million tons of new medium and late indica rice, a decrease of 2.39 million tons and 9.94 percent over the same period last year. Since the beginning of December, the progress of mid-late rice acquisition has been slowing down. Statistics show that the five-day purchase volume between December 10 and 15 was only 900000 tons, much lower than the peak of 3-4 million tons.

According to statistics, as of December 15, various grain enterprises in seven major japonica rice producing areas, including Heilongjiang and Jilin, had purchased 26.31 million tons of new japonica rice, an increase of 8.07 million tons over the same period last year and an increase of 44.24 percent over the same period last year. The progress of the acquisition of japonica rice has been relatively fast this year, but the progress of acquisition has slowed down due to the recent snowfall in Northeast China.

On December 23, the policy-oriented rice bidding transaction in the south will continue. The market volume is still about 500000 tons of early indica rice in 2013. As the current focus of the market is on middle and late rice, the transaction ratio is expected to remain low. According to statistics, so far, the total transaction volume of early indica rice in 2013 is only 118900 tons, accounting for 2.07% of the lowest purchase price.
