Dongfang net, Feb. 22: yesterday, the Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Agriculture announced that on February 6, the Bureau sent a letter of assistance to the Hainan Provincial Department of Agriculture, banning cowpeas produced in Hainan from entering the Wuhan market for three months from the date of the letter.

According to the Municipal Bureau of Agriculture, from January to early February this year, the Municipal Agricultural Inspection Center sampled and monitored cowpeas sold in Wushang Fruit Lake Shop, Baishazhou Agricultural and sideline products Market and other places, and all found that they contained the banned pesticide isocarbophos. After tracing back, the over-standard samples came from Yingzhou Town, Lingshui County, Hainan Province and Yacheng Town, Sanya City.

According to the Law on the quality and Safety of Agricultural products and the market access system for the quality and safety of agricultural products in our province, within three months, cowpeas produced in Hainan will be prohibited from entering all wholesale markets, bazaars and supermarkets in Wuhan. So far, 3596.9 kilograms of poisonous cowpeas have been destroyed in the city, successfully preventing nearly 25000 kilograms of Hainan cowpeas from entering the Wuhan market. After many inspections, no cowpea sales in Hainan have been found in the wholesale markets, supermarkets and markets of agricultural products in our city.
