Grow a large area of abandoned water pipes from a strawberry orchard. Don't lose them.
Many people know that strawberries can be preserved in hanging basins, but do you think it is feasible to raise strawberries with water pipes? However, the following flower friend has planted a large area, which I can only envy.
These pvc pipes can be seen everywhere, home decoration will certainly leave a lot, if you have better hands-on ability, then make one yourself is not a problem.
Materials that need to be prepared
An electric drill with a drilling bit of 5-7 cm (and a small bit of 3-to-5 mm)
Two water pipes, one big and one small (the big one is used to grow plants, and the small one is used to draw water)
Saws, corks, tape, hemp rope, potted soil (slightly acidic and fertile soil) and coarse sand.
A pump for pressurized irrigation is also needed.
Step 1: drill a hole
Leave an appropriate interval between each hole, usually about 8cm to 10cm, and set the arrangement of the hole, which side is more sunny, this is to be considered.
Step 2: drill the tubule
Tubule drilling only drill holes in the upper 2ramp 3, because at that time the water will be drawn up and the water will drip down from the upper part.
Can give a little more holes, as vents, the drainage of the soil will be better.
Step 3: complete the watering pipe
Thoughtful florists will think that if the small water pipe is directly wrapped in the big water pipe, the soil will seep back through the holes of the small water pipe, so it is necessary to prepare coarse linen or non-woven cloth to wind the small pipe to prevent it from being blocked by the soil, and then tie it up with hemp rope.
The small water pipe is sealed first, otherwise it will be accidentally put into the soil, and then the soil and strawberries will be added. For each additional layer of soil, a layer of gravel should be added to prevent the soil from clogging. This is also a trick.
Step 4: plant strawberry seedlings
Can add soil and gravel to the water pipe, while planting strawberry seedlings, preferably with soil balls, quick recovery and high survival rate.
Generally, it is only placed on the sunny side, and it is impossible to plant it in all directions. It is certainly not enough to receive light that way.
Step 5: where to put
The location of this water pipe is also fastidious, can be placed on the wall or inclined does not matter, the important thing is to adjust the direction, receive enough light.
Of course, the bottom of the water pipe should be inserted into the water pipe, which is a sharp weapon for strawberries to replenish water, which is very convenient. The bottom of the water pipe should also be filled with about 10 cm of gravel at the bottom, not only for drainage, but also for the bottom to be heavier and not easy to fall down.
Step 6: benefits of water pipe planting
Water pipe planting not only saves space, but also prevents pests from climbing up. Everyone knows what pests are most annoying for growing strawberries. Yes, they are slugs. It is very difficult for them to climb up on the water pipe and cover it with a layer of crushed eggshell under the pipe. It's double protection.
You have to bring a ladder when you pick strawberries!
Step 7: hose strawberry orchard in the greenhouse
Don't think that water pipe planting is just for fun. It can really be planted on a large scale. Look at this large area. I believe you have never visited such a strawberry orchard.
Of course, it is also possible to grow other vegetables, such as vanilla, cabbage, lettuce, coriander and so on.
There are also flower friends who are used to grow small varieties of tomatoes, which are also good.
