Egg is an essential agricultural product in China's vegetable basket project. In recent years, the cost of laying hens has increased year by year. The cost of laying hens mainly includes feed cost, chicken seedling cost, disease prevention and control cost, labor cost, water and electricity cost, depreciation cost of fixed assets and equipment, etc. Any change will affect the cost of eggs to varying degrees. In the whole production cost composition, feed cost accounts for the most, accounting for about 60%~70% of the total cost. The main raw materials of layer feed are corn and soybean meal, accounting for about 60%~65% and 20%~25% of the feed cost. The cost of chicken seedlings accounts for about 15%~20%. The quality of chicken seedlings determines the quality of chicken seedlings to a certain extent. The quality of chicken seedlings is related to the growth speed, egg production, disease resistance and survival rate of laying hens, which is a potential factor affecting egg prices. With the rapid development of layer breeding industry, the types and frequency of disease occurrence have increased significantly, and the proportion of disease prevention and control expenses such as vaccines, quarantine and drugs for chicken disease prevention and treatment in the total cost of breeding has increased significantly, with an average annual increase of about 5% in recent years.

Looking forward to 2015, it is expected that the breeding cost of laying hens will continue to rise for three reasons: first, labor costs and disease prevention and control fees continue to rise year by year; second, with the high breeding profits, the price of chicken seedlings next year will also go out of a wave of rising prices; third, the low price of feed raw materials in the second half of this year is difficult to reproduce in the future, and will also go out of the rising market in the future.
