Last Updated: 2024/11/06, If you want to make money, don't engage in agriculture. Yuan Longping, an 84-year-old academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the father of Chinese hybrid rice, said frankly when asked by reporters at the Sanya Financial and Economic International Forum that it is not easy to make money in agriculture.

"if you want to make money, don't engage in agriculture," Yuan Longping, 84, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and father of Chinese hybrid rice, said frankly when asked by reporters at the "Sanya Financial and Economic International Forum." it is not easy to make money in agriculture.

The planting industry is not favored by capital.

When including BAT and Alibaba set their sights on agriculture, there was the saying that "capital enters agriculture". However, after combing, it is not difficult to find that capital is more inclined to the deep processing and circulation of agricultural products, while the planting industry itself is neglected. Why is there such a situation? In an interview with a reporter from Yangcheng Evening News, Yuan Longping said frankly that agriculture does not make money, and if you want to make money, do not engage in agriculture.

Yuan Longping believes that most of the time, the output of agriculture is not as good as that paid. Doing agriculture is not only a capital investment, but also needs ideals and feelings. "if enterprises invest in agriculture, if they lose money, they will withdraw. This is not good for agriculture," Yuan Longping says. If enterprises want to do agriculture, they have to make preparations for long-term efforts.

In order to solve the grain problem, Yuan Longping said that the most important thing is to have a good policy and "mobilize the enthusiasm of farmers to grow grain." He believes that the policy of strengthening agriculture and benefiting farmers issued by the state is very good, giving a lot of preferential conditions, but it can be further strengthened. Yuan Longping is quite gratified that the problem of abandoned arable land in China has been alleviated in recent years.

The transfer price of farmland is too high.

"Farmers have great expectations for national policy," says Liu Yonghao, chairman of the New Hope Group. Under the new normal of China's economy, as an agricultural practitioner, he also feels the opportunity for development.

Why are more and more farmers coming to the city? Liu Yonghao said that the main reason is that the income gap between rural and urban areas is too large. "now a person has to cultivate 100 mu of land to earn the same income as in the city, but the current situation of land in rural areas is less than 10 mu of land, which is 10 times less than that of 100 mu of land."

Liu Yonghao believes that land transfer will also become a new normal in the future, and he also suggests that the country's policy on land transfer can be more detailed and clear. When I visited Australia, I found that there was very good water, very good sunshine, and where the land was very fertile. I bought an acre of land equivalent to 1000 yuan, "says Liu Yonghao, who points out that in most parts of the country, one mu of land is transferred 1000 yuan a year. Liu Yonghao points out that the problem caused by the high transfer price of agricultural land is that the price of agricultural products is generally higher than abroad.

"if we rent it for a year, it's the same as buying it forever. This means that the transfer price of agricultural land leases will certainly decline in the future. Liu Yonghao believes that the current urbanization is mainly concerned with urban construction, while the "town" is considered a little less, while the problem of villages and towns is considered. It must be considered under the "new normal."
