The per capita net income of farmers increased by 9.2% in 2014, approaching 10,000 yuan.
On January 20, the Information Office of the State Council held a press conference on the operation of China's national economy in 2014. Ma Jiantang, director of the National Bureau of Statistics, said that according to preliminary calculations, the GDP for the whole year was 63.6463 trillion yuan, an increase of 7.4 percent over the previous year. The per capita net income of rural residents for the whole year was 9892 yuan, an increase of 9.2% in real terms after deducting price factors.
Ma Jiantang stressed: on the whole, the operation of the national economy in 2014 has maintained a stable operation under the new normal, achieving steady progress and improving quality.
Residents' income continued to increase. According to the survey of integrated urban and rural households, the per capita disposable income of residents in the whole year was 20167 yuan, an increase of 8.0% in real terms over the previous year. According to the place of permanent residence, the per capita disposable income of urban residents was 28844 yuan, an increase of 6.8 percent in real terms over the previous year, and that of rural residents was 10489 yuan, an increase of 9.2 percent in real terms over the previous year.
In agriculture, the production situation for the whole year was relatively good, with the country's total grain output reaching 607.1 million tons, an increase of 5.16 million tons or 0.9 percent over the previous year. Of this total, the output of summer grain was 136.6 million tons, up 3.6 percent; the output of early rice was 34.01 million tons, down 0.4 percent; and the output of autumn grain was 436.49 million tons, up 0.1 percent.
From the perspective of urban and rural structure, the urban resident population was 749.16 million, an increase of 18.05 million over the end of last year, while the rural resident population was 618.66 million, a decrease of 10.95 million, and the urban population accounted for 54.77 percent of the total population.
The total number and income of migrant workers have increased. In 2001, the total number of migrant workers was 273.95 million, an increase of 5.01 million over the previous year, an increase of 1.9 percent. Of these, 105.74 million were local migrant workers, up 2.8 percent, and 168.21 million migrant workers, an increase of 1.3 percent. The average monthly income of migrant workers was 2864 yuan, an increase of 9.8% over the previous year.
In terms of prices, the price level rose relatively low. for the whole year, consumer prices rose 2.0 percent over the previous year, including 2.1 percent in cities and 1.8 percent in rural areas. Among all kinds of consumer goods, food prices increased the most, rising 3.1% over the previous year.
