Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Huahua's friends have cultivated several green pineapple in their home, and they are in good condition recently. When I went to play at the weekend, there were several active bugs in the water! There are bugs in our hydroponic green plants. Have a look!

Why do insects grow in hydroponics?

Water sources are areas of high incidence of mosquito spawning, especially still water surfaces.

Hydroponic plants belong to relatively closed water sources, coupled with the nutrients produced by plant roots, it is easier to provoke mosquitoes.

As temperatures rise and mosquitoes become active, how do we keep our hydroponic greenery clean?

Change water frequently to avoid insects

It takes 2-3 days for eggs to hatch, so we have to change the water every 2-3 days to prevent eggs from being born or hatched.

In the picture below, the water is not changed in time, and larvae appear

When changing water, pay attention to cleaning the roots of plants and wash away sticky attachments.

If there are too many roots of plants, and there are rotten parts, they should be cut off in time to avoid breeding rotten parts.

Put it back into a clean container (the container can be sterilized by soaking in boiling water or soaked in carbendazim)

Note: you can also use cold white as a new water source yo

Fish in water, kill bugs

Some difficult to change the water culture, you can raise some fish in the water, fish larvae will do bait, help you eliminate it!

Vitamin B2 Insecticides

Mosquitoes hate the taste of vitamin B2, put a few tablets of vitamin B2 in the water can "smoke" away mosquitoes, while not harming plants.

Keep ventilation to avoid attracting insects

Placing hydroponic plants in ventilated places is not only conducive to plant growth, but also prevents mosquitoes from laying eggs in the water.

Note that hydroponic plants generally do not need more sun exposure, can be placed in the shade of the balcony ventilation

Or put it on a closed windowsill for a while

Clean more and eliminate insects

In order to keep clean and hygienic, wipe the leaves with a damp cloth at ordinary times, remove the dead leaves, and keep the whole green plant clean.
