China's soybean imports rose 17 percent in January from a year earlier

According to monthly statistics released by the General Administration of Customs, China's soybean imports rose to 6.9 million tons in January 2015, up from 5.9 million tons in the same period a year earlier and an increase of about 17 per cent year-on-year.

According to the report, China imported 28000 tons of soybeans from Brazil in January, down from 116000 tons in the same period last year, and 6.6 million tons from the United States, up from 5.4 million tons in the same period last year. Imports of soybeans from Canada were 155000 tons, down from 314000 tons in the same period last year, 15000 tons from Uruguay, down from 47000 tons in the same period last year, and 34000 tons from Russia, up from 2000 tons in the same period last year.
