First step preparation: Cuiyun grass pot, soil, empty flowerpot, scissors, small wooden stick (figure 1-2)

A good Cuiyun grass should be green, shiny, stout and energetic. If it is just bought Cuiyun grass, because after long-distance transportation, a little shrinking, should be stocked for a few days, and then cuttage use. Clay I use peat soil plus perlite, the ratio is 2:1, so it is more loose and breathable. Other sandy soils with good drainage are also available. Flowerpots can be used as long as there is no stagnant water. One end of the stick is cut into a bevel, which can be used when cutting.

The second step is pruning (figure 3-4)

It is better to choose stout and upright branches, but do not consider those that are curved and thin. Because we are used in the orchid basin, the length is generally 5-10 cm is enough, too long but easy to consume nutrients, the survival rate is reduced. You can see that the branches in figure 4 have already taken root. This is the best. Many branches of a pot of green cloud grass have gas roots. Be careful not to hurt these roots.

The third step of cutting (Fig. 5-9)

First soak the basin soil, poke a hole with a small stick, not too deep, then put the branches in, bury the roots with air roots, and then gently compact them with soil, so that they are filled in turn and spray some water on the leaves, even if they are finished. Be careful not to take the branches directly into the soil, because the branches are very young, it is easy to break and damage, and the survival rate will be greatly reduced.

Step 4 placement (Fig. 10-14)

Put the Cuiyun grass cuttings in a shady but not too dark place to maintain a certain degree of humidity. Usually see the soil semi-dry watering, do not water frequently, because the root has not yet grown, the grass does not have the ability to consume water in the soil, if too wet, but will lead to branch rot. The leaves can also dry and spray some water. My balcony is very dry. I put them in a foam box, which is covered with sand, watered thoroughly, put the inserted Cuiyun on it, and then cover a film on the top of the foam box, so that it is both ventilated and moisturized. I planted a lot of other flowers and plants in this way.

After half a month or so, lift the branch gently with your hand. If you feel a little heavy, it means it has taken root and survived. At this time, you can transplant it to the orchid basin with soil and roots. It is suggested that it is better to insert and transplant again, because when the root system grows much and deeper, it will damage the delicate root, so the effect will be reduced.
