China News Service, Nanning, April 21 (Reporter Meng Mingming)-Guangxi Agriculture Department revealed on April 21 that at the request of the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Guangxi will send agricultural experts to Cambodia for technical assistance to help local control of increasingly serious fruit tree diseases and insect pests. It is reported that this is the first time that Guangxi has sent experts to ASEAN countries to provide technical assistance.

According to Huang Wenxing, director of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Department of the Guangxi Agricultural Department, orange fruit trees, as the main source of income for Cambodian farmers, have been attacked by inexplicable bacteria in recent years, resulting in large moldy spots on the trunk and wilting in a large area. Due to lack of expertise and facilities, local agricultural experts failed in their efforts to prevent and control orange tree diseases, and the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries asked Guangxi for assistance.

After receiving the letter for help, the Guangxi authorities attached great importance to it and decided to send a delegation of agricultural experts headed by Bai Jian, chief agronomist of the Guangxi Agricultural Department, to Cambodia on the 25th of this month to provide technical assistance to help diagnose fruit tree diseases there.

Lan Huiyan, executive director of Guangxi Fuwald Agricultural Technology International Cooperation Co., Ltd., the coordinator of the aid project, said that in Cambodia, the output value of orange trees per hectare reached 1500 US dollars. Due to the relatively high profits and market demand, local farmers have long grown orange fruits as the main source of income.

"now, however, orange production in Cambodia is on the verge of collapse, and orange trees infected with this strange bacteria usually wither and die within three years. The widespread spread of the disease has forced local farmers to give up planting orange fruit. " Lan Huiyan, who had previously brought back a letter from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia, said.

It is reported that in Cambodia's Battambang province, where orange fruit is the economic symbol, 2x3 orange fruit trees have been infected and withered, and most of the remaining 1760 hectares of orange fruit trees are also infected with pathogens, while more than 10, 000 hectares of infected orange orchards in the country.
