Indoor plants are becoming more and more popular now. they can not only beautify the environment, but also add vitality to the home, purify the air, improve your health, and relieve stress. What kind of environment do indoor plants like?

1. The knack of watering

1. Keep the basin soil moist but not moist

If the soil is too dry or watered frequently, the roots will be destroyed. (there are plants that are particularly resistant to drought and waterlogging.) plants with delicate leaves such as green pineapple and netting grass need more water, while leathery and waxy plants such as tiger orchids and rubber trees cannot be watered more.

Moist soil means that the soil can be pinched into a ball, and moist soil can be pinched into a ball that can make water. You need to know that plants like slightly moist basin soil, or like to keep it slightly dry.

2. How to judge whether the soil is dry enough?

Stick your finger into the soil so that you can directly feel whether the soil is dry or not, or you can insert it with a small bamboo stick.

Overwatering is prone to root rot, and leaves and roots rot easily. If the plant is dehydrated, the leaves droop, the leaves are dry-pointed, and the lower leaves turn yellow and curly.

3. Use water at room temperature

The best temperature for watering is room temperature, not too cold or too hot. Of course, the good water quality is more conducive to plant growth. Rain Water is the best choice to use tap water after three days.

If the water is too hot, it will burn the roots, shock the plants and easily kill them. If the water is too cold, it will affect the dormancy of the plants and cause frostbite.

4. Choose containers with good drainage

Choosing containers with good drainage is particularly important for plant growth. Occasionally, if there is more water, it can also flow away from the basin (there should be holes in the bottom of the basin, of course), so make sure that the drainage holes at the bottom are not blocked.

It is best to cover the bottom of the flowerpot with a filter layer such as gravel, pebbles, broken tiles or ceramsite.

Second, taboos on taking care of indoor plants

1. Give plants proper light

The growth of plants needs photosynthesis, and the intensity of light will affect the growth of plants. Plants that are well cultivated are fixed in one place. Of course, first of all, we need to know whether plants can accept direct light.

If your plant cannot be exposed to direct sunlight, fluorescent lights are a good alternative to sunlight. Flowering plants are given 12 to 16 hours of artificial light a day. Foliage plants are given artificial light for 10 to 16 hours a day.

2. Don't touch the plants around you

Plants adapt very slowly to the new environment, so don't touch the plants around you and keep them in a stable and adaptive environment.

Plants that suddenly move from dark places to sunny places will burn and die in the sun. Plants with plenty of sunshine for a long time are not suitable to suddenly move to places where there is no light. There should be a transition period and slowly adapt.

3. Spray water or use a humidifier

Except for plants such as cactus that like dry air, most indoor plants prefer higher environmental humidity, especially tropical plants, so it is a good choice to spray green plants often.

The leaves of plants can not always leave water, so they can only be sprayed around the plants to increase the humidity of the environment and make the plants grow green.

If you see the plant leaves wilting, the leaves turn brown or the buds do not grow, it is necessary to reduce the environmental humidity and stop spraying.

Note: do not spray water on flowers or buds.

4. Attention to fertilization

Indoor plants are generally given average fertilizer, that is, the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium is 10:10:10 fertilizer, in the formal fertilizer packaging, there are three numbers, the first number represents nitrogen, two or three numbers are phosphorus and potassium respectively.

Don't misuse fertilizers. If you raise flowering plants, you can buy fertilizers that are high in potassium. If it is a foliage plant, it should be a fertilizer with high nitrogen content.

5. Prune plants regularly

Some plants need regular pruning to grow better. When changing pots, properly cut off withered roots and old roots. Pruning not only promotes branching and is conducive to flowering, but also allows plants to grow gracefully and avoid diseases and insects.

But it should not be pruned three months before flowering, or it will affect plant flowering. Many plants are pruned before sprouting in spring, and proper pruning after flowering can promote flowering again.

6. Do not misuse tea grounds, coffee grounds and rice water

Tea dregs and coffee grounds cannot be poured directly into the basin soil and cannot touch the rhizome, otherwise these dregs will release heat when they decompose, burn the roots and breed worms. (it has to be fermented before it works)

Amoy rice water is also the same, if it is not fermented, it is not suitable to water the soil directly. Those flower friends who have nothing to do are all because of the ventilation of the environment, and the water of the rice panning water evaporates quickly. If it is poured in cloudy and rainy days, it is easy to breed Xiao Hei Fei.

Get to know your plants

1. Learn the classification of plants

It is very important to understand what kind of environment plants need to grow, so that you can take better care of plants, such as the sunlight and water they need to grow, different indoor plants, and a little consultation on plant maintenance. It will make it easy for you to grow plants.

2. Make sure your plant is a foliage plant or flowering plant

Flowering plants and foliage plants need different fertilizer, sunlight and water, and you should also understand the flowering season of plants so that they will not be pruned indiscriminately.

3. Choose the plant that suits you

If you are a hard-working person, you can raise plants that like watering, such as taro, netting grass, water bamboo, etc.

If you want to raise plants that don't need to be taken care of, you can raise some plants like geraniums, green apples, and pocket coconuts.

If you often forget to water, then you can choose tiger skin orchid, aloe, dragon blood tree, hanging orchid and other plants.
