China will formulate a number of new safety standards for food products

Chen Rui, deputy director of the Food Safety Comprehensive Coordination and Health Supervision Bureau of the Ministry of Health, pointed out at a regular press conference on July 13 that the Ministry of Health will formulate a number of new food product safety standards and initially establish a national food safety standard system.

Chen Rui said that in accordance with the 2010 Food Safety National Standards cleaning work Plan, the Ministry of Health will organize the limited standards for food contaminants, mycotoxins, food additives, pathogenic microorganisms, pesticide residues and veterinary drug residues this year, as well as the prepackaged Food labelling Standard and the prepackaged Food Nutrition labelling Safety Standard. It will also organize to clean up and improve the standards of rice, noodles, oil and condiments consumed by the masses, and examine and publish them in a timely manner.

In addition, China will also speed up the improvement of the management system of national food safety standards, promulgating and implementing the measures for the Administration of National Standards for Food Safety and the measures for the Administration of Local Standards for Food Safety, as well as the measures for the formulation and revision of national standards for food safety.
