From March 24th to 25th, the Ministry of Agriculture commissioned the Planning and Design Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences to hold a training course on the Integrated nutrient Management Program (CNMP) for livestock and poultry manure in Beijing. Seven experts from the United States gave lectures to more than 180 people from livestock breeding authorities, scientific research institutions and enterprises all over the country.

Over the past 30 years of reform and opening up, China's animal husbandry has developed rapidly, and people's consumption level has leapfrogged from the pursuit of food and clothing to the stage of having everything with meat, eggs and milk, but with the development of large-scale animal husbandry, a large number of livestock and poultry manure have been produced. According to statistics, large-scale livestock and poultry farming in China produces more than 800 million tons of manure every year, of which only 15% are equipped with biogas projects and other treatment facilities. Livestock and poultry manure has become one of the main sources of agricultural non-point source pollution, and it has also brought severe challenges to the sustainable development of animal husbandry.

As the saying goes, only misplaced resources, but no real waste. The integrated nutrient management program of livestock and poultry manure in the United States has accumulated rich experience in the treatment of livestock and poultry manure in more than 30 years of practice. At this training course, American experts gave special lectures on CNMP resource protection planning, livestock and poultry manure nutrient management, and feed source emission reduction of breeding waste, which will play an important role in improving the scientific and rational development level of China's animal husbandry and planting industry, and guiding the resource utilization of livestock and poultry manure in China.

Relevant personnel of the government, scientific research institutions, and enterprises participating in the training all said that the development of ecological animal husbandry is the inevitable trend of future development, and they are willing to become recipients and practitioners of CNMP, hoping to turn the CNMP of the United States into China's CNMP in the future, so as to further promote the sustainable development of animal husbandry in China.
