The loss area of slaughtering and meat processing enterprises above the national scale is expanding.
The latest data obtained by the reporter from the China Meat Association show that by the end of 2014, of the 3786 slaughtering and meat processing enterprises above the national scale, there were a total of 351 loss-making enterprises, accounting for 9.3%, and the industry loss rate was further expanded compared with 8.91% in 2013.
Among them, there were 137 loss-making enterprises in the livestock slaughtering industry, an increase of 12.3% over the same period last year; 94 loss-making enterprises in the poultry slaughtering industry, an increase of 18.9% over the same period last year; and 120 loss-making enterprises in the meat products and by-product processing industry, down 2.4% from the same period last year.
In terms of losses, livestock slaughtering enterprises lost 1.347 billion yuan, up 70 percent from the same period last year; poultry slaughtering enterprises lost 1.105 billion yuan, down 10 percent from the same period last year; and meat products and by-product processing enterprises lost 900 million yuan, up 24.8 percent from the same period last year.
Li Shuilong, vice president of the World Meat Organization and executive president of the China Meat Association, believes that the decline in profits and loss-making enterprises in the slaughtering industry in 2014 is mainly due to low capacity utilization. "Enterprises above scale account for only about 20 per cent of the industry, while the remaining 80 per cent are small and micro enterprises, so they compete with each other for raw materials, resulting in idle advanced capacity and structural imbalance in the industry."
In addition, the low processing efficiency is also one of the reasons. Li Shuilong said that from the overall situation of slaughtering and meat processing enterprises above scale, the profit margin of the main business income is 4.7%, which is 1.6 percentage points lower than the average level of the agricultural product processing industry.
According to the national statistical bulletin, the country's total meat output in 2014 was 87.07 million tons, an increase of 2 percent over the previous year. By the end of 2014, there were 3786 large-scale slaughtering and meat processing enterprises in China, an increase of 93 or 2.5 per cent over the previous year.
With regard to the recent revelation of the flow of problematic pork into the Dezhou factory of the Golden Gong Group, Li Shuilong analyzed to our reporter that the meat processing industry chain is relatively long, and enterprises are the main body of responsibility for food safety. at the same time, it also needs the government and society to fulfill the responsibility of supervision and supervision. "Government departments should properly turn off the source, and enterprises should carry out inspection and quarantine before and after livestock slaughtering into the factory, and there can be no loopholes in every link."
According to the announcement of the Golden Gong Group, on March 23, the staff of the Livestock and Veterinary Bureau of Linyi County went to the Dezhou Golden Gong factory for on-the-spot acceptance, and the acceptance results were qualified. Linyi County Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau made a reply to allow Dezhou Golden Gong Factory to resume production.
The Golden Gong Group concluded afterwards that before slaughter, the live pigs were ensured to be qualified through the three passes of "incoming inspection", "unloading inspection" and "waiting for slaughter inspection"; strict control and quarantine inspection were carried out during slaughter, and the state-prescribed quarantine inspection procedures were strictly implemented throughout the slaughtering process to ensure the safety of the process; good quarantine inspection at the factory, self-control and quarantine by the competent department to ensure the safety of the products sold. From the pig into the factory to slaughtering and processing to go through more than 20 quarantine inspection procedures, only qualified can leave the factory.
