Last Updated: 2024/11/05, It is very resistant to shearing, after it blooms, it needs to be pruned, which can make its nutrients not wasted, grow more branches, and look better. There are three different methods: short cutting, thinning and shrinking. Short cutting is to cut off a node of its year-old branches to speed up the growth of new branches; thinning is to cut off its branches and leaves to increase the internal light; reducing is to cut off branches that have grown for many years, which can make the old tree strong again.

1. How to trim

Its flowers are purple or red, only grow at the top of the branch, and so it blooms, the remaining flowers will remain on the branch, we need to prune it, so that it can not only make it more beautiful, but also reduce its nutrient consumption. We need to know when pruning it is very resistant to pruning, do not be afraid to cut it bad.

After it blooms, we need to trim the flowering branches first, not too much, just a few at the top. If the branch is longer, cut it by one-third or two-thirds, or design a shape for it.

Pruning it is to let its nutrients not be wasted, grow more branches, more compact shape, so it can be thinned after flowering, remove the withered branches, cut the thin branches, but also can cut the lateral branches, so that it can grow more new buds.

II. Trimming method

1. Short scissors

That is to cut off a node of a branch that has grown for a year. If half or one-third of it is cut off, it is called heavy short shear. If it is only one-third or less, it is called light short shear. This method of shearing stimulates the lower bud more greatly, allowing the new branch to grow fastest, but it will weaken the thickening of the trunk.

2, thin cut

It grows a year or many years of branches to cut off is thin shear, it is conducive to promoting the growth of buds and branches below the cut. Such pruning reduces the density of branches, increases internal light, and helps the plant grow.

3. Shrinkage

To remove the branches that have grown for many years is called shrinkage cutting. It is very effective for the growth of branches and buds behind the cut. This method is used to make the old trees strong again. If there are more places to be cut off, you can cut them several times.
