The reporter learned from the Ministry of Agriculture that since 12:00 on April 1, the waters from Gezhouba in the Yangtze River Basin to the Yangtze River Estuary and the Pearl River in Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, and Yunnan six provinces (regions) have entered a fishing ban period.

The implementation of the fishing ban system is an important part of the construction of national ecological civilization and an important institutional guarantee for the protection of water resources and environment. This year marks the 14th year of the fishing ban in the Yangtze River Basin and the fifth year in the Pearl River Basin.

In order to ensure the smooth implementation of the fishing ban on the Yangtze River and Pearl River in 2015, and to consolidate and improve the effect of ecological conservation in the basin, the Ministry of Agriculture will organize and carry out "three major actions" during the fishing ban period.

First, simultaneous enforcement actions to ban fishing in the two rivers. On April 1, the Fisheries Supervision and Administration Office of the Yangtze River Basin of the Ministry of Agriculture organized 12 provinces (autonomous regions and cities), including Jiangxi, Guangxi, Hunan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangdong, Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu and Shanghai, to carry out synchronous law enforcement actions, requiring all localities to strengthen law enforcement management during the fishing ban period and create a good working atmosphere for the fishing ban. And organize fishery administration vessels and law enforcement forces to carry out law enforcement inspections in relevant key waters to clean up and ban illegal fishing gear and illegal fishing.

Second, joint law enforcement actions to clean up and crack down on illegal fishing in the Shanghai section of the Yangtze River. From April 9 to June 30, the Ministry of Agriculture, together with the Shanghai Municipal Government, will organize fishery law enforcement forces in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other provinces and cities, as well as maritime police, maritime, and public security departments. In the Shanghai section of the Yangtze River waters, we will focus on carrying out joint law enforcement actions to clean up and rectify illegal fishing, and comprehensively clean up and ban illegal fishing gear and "three no" vessels engaged in illegal fishing in the Shanghai section of the Yangtze River.

The third is to carry out large-scale proliferation and release of aquatic biological resources. During the fishing ban on the Yangtze River and the Pearl River, the Ministry of Agriculture will organize large-scale activities for the proliferation and release of aquatic organisms in various places, cooperate with strict law enforcement and management during the fishing ban period, ensure better results in proliferation and release and ecological conservation, and speed up the restoration of aquatic biological resources. restore the ecological environment of the water area and ensure the ecological security of the water area.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture will also combine routine law enforcement and management work, such as environmental impact assessment of water-related projects and law enforcement inspection of ecological compensation, compensation and accountability for ecological damage in fishery waters, and supervision and inspection of the construction and management of protected areas, to comprehensively strengthen the construction of ecological civilization in water areas.
