Forest rangers (commonly known as mountain rangers) are the frontline guardians of mountain forests, with an average of 2200 hectares of woodland per guardian, including frontline investigation and detection of illegal logging, rescue of forest fires, assistance in mountain disaster search and rescue, etc., but the work is dangerous and the corresponding treatment and security are disproportionate. The starting salary of mountain rangers is only 26,000 yuan, with a maximum of 33,000 yuan, said Lin Huaqing, director of the Forestry Bureau. Last week, we formally asked the Council of Agriculture to transfer it to the Executive Yuan, hoping to improve the professional support of forest conservationists.

The mountain ranger worked hard to protect Taiwan's natural environment, with 15 excellent and 1 outstanding awarded.

Today (21) is the International Forest Day (International Day of Forest). The Forestry Bureau invited Rotary International District 3523 to praise the selection of 15 outstanding and outstanding caretakers from more than 1,000 forest managers, and awarded prizes of 10, 000 yuan and 20, 000 yuan respectively.

The Forestry Bureau said that Taiwan's mountain areas are steep, the rivers are fast, and the protection of mountains and forests is full of difficulties and challenges. For a long time, mountain rangers have been at the forefront to investigate illegal logging, rescue forest fires, and assist in the search and rescue of mountain disasters. Even though the task is heavy and dangerous, they still spare no effort to protect the natural environment of all the people in Taiwan day and night.

Lin Huaqing says that after afforestation efforts, someone is needed to protect the forest, and the mountain patrol is shouldered this important task. "the mountain patrol is the most cherished group, and they are the unsung heroes who really protect Taiwan. Not many people know that the mountain patrol protects the forest ecology for us."

Lin further points out that mountain rangers work hard and are on duty on the mountain regardless of heavy rain, wind, or snow; they encounter unintentional attacks by many wild animals, such as bees and poisonous snakes; and at the same time, they are also subjected to man-made danger. In order to protect precious trees, mountain rangers often encounter threats from individuals, groups, and even violence, "but they can stand up and successfully complete every mission."
