Import 2.14 million tons of cereal and cereal flour in March

China imported 2.14 million tons of cereals and cereal flour in March 2015, with a total value of 3.939 billion yuan, according to data from the General Administration of Customs. From January to March 2015, China imported 6.91 million tons of cereals and cereal flour, an increase of 37 percent over the same period last year, and imports reached 12.397 billion yuan, an increase of 25.9 percent over the same period last year. In addition, China exported 4492 tons of rice in March and 38924 tons from January to March, an increase of 24.8 percent over the same period last year.

Soyabean imports rose 5.4 per cent in March from a month earlier, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs on Monday. China imported 4.49 million tons of soybeans in March, up 5.4 per cent from the previous month, as buyers took advantage of low prices to order large quantities of first-quarter soybeans delivered in the first quarter as they turned to lower prices in South America. Soyabean imports rose 1.9 per cent to 15.63 million tons in the first quarter from a year earlier. In addition, China imported 360000 tons of edible oil in March, up 56.5 per cent from the previous month. China's imports of edible oil include palm oil, soybean oil and rapeseed oil.
