Recently, the Management Cadre College of the Ministry of Agriculture held the fourth rotation training class for directors of major counties of agriculture, animal husbandry and fishery this year. With the theme of improving the quality and efficiency of horticultural crops, 110 directors of agriculture (fruit industry) from key counties of horticultural crops (apples) and system cadres of the Ministry of Agriculture were trained intensively. A total of 11 special lectures, case analysis and on-site teaching sessions were organized in this training class. Students from all over the world discussed in groups on how to promote the "three-grade promotion" around topics such as apple variety improvement, quality improvement and brand creation.

Under the current new normal of China's economic development, how to change the development mode, promote the improvement of quality and efficiency of fruit industry, and speed up the pace of building modern fruit industry has become a question for students to actively think about.

Students generally believe that, with the prominent benefits of apples in recent years, the scale of orchards expands rapidly, and the demand for seedlings is very large, mainly relying on the transfer from other provinces, and the variety and quality cannot be guaranteed. Wang Xilin, director of the fruit industry bureau in Qinzhou District, Tianshui City, Gansu Province, said: "The government must increase support and establish its own apple seedling breeding base to lay a foundation for the sustainable development of the apple industry." Wang Xilin also suggested slowing down the expansion speed of orchard scale and taking the path of seedling first and then expansion.

With the change of production conditions, the aging of old orchard production function seriously affects the improvement of overall industrial benefits. Students from different regions introduced their own experiences on how to transform old orchards. Wang Yi, director of Agriculture Bureau of Penglai City, Shandong Province, believes that relying on typical pulling is the most effective way to transform old orchards. It is done for fruit farmers to see and take fruit farmers 'dry fruit, so that fruit farmers can really see the necessity and benefits of old orchard transformation. At the same time, the government should strengthen the support for the transformation of old orchards through special subsidies and other forms. Ren Zhijiang, deputy director of fruit industry development center in Haiyang City, Shandong Province, proposed that, aiming at the shortage of rural labor force at present stage, we should vigorously develop and popularize labor-saving integrated technology, and pay attention to fertilizer and water management and pest control in the transformation of old orchards.

In this training class, Shaanxi Baishui Apple, as a typical brand creation, shared experience with the trainees. Wang Yangjun, director of fruit industry bureau of Baishui County of Shaanxi Province, said: "According to the marketing plan of 'government-led, enterprise participation, one city a year, one policy for one city and circulation', Baishui County has done a good job in production with the standard of industrial concept, marketing with industrialized marketing strategy, brand publicity with industrialized brand communication, and created the golden signboard of' Baishui Apple'." In addition, Wang Yangjun suggested that relevant state departments formulate brand development plans for national key agricultural products, and support the brand construction of agricultural products to strive for international famous brands.

At the end of the training, the trainees came to visit and study in Qianyang County, Shaanxi Province. A modern apple orchard planted closely with dwarf rootstocks as far as the eye could see won praise from the students. The facilities such as grid cultivation, fertilization and water infiltration, weather observation instrument and induction mower make the students feel as if they are in an agricultural science and technology museum. "It integrates the world's most advanced apple orchard construction, planting and management technology." Northwest University of Agriculture and Forestry Science and Technology Qianyang Experimental Station chief expert Li Bingzhi said.

"Although the training is only 5 days, the content is rich. Through consulting peers and experts, we have found a good solution to the problems encountered in the development of apple industry in our county. We hope to hold more such training classes in the future." Xue Jianrong, deputy director of the Fruit Industry Center in Ruicheng County, Shanxi Province, showed reporters a thick stack of notes he recorded after the training. Xue Jianrong said that after going back, we should translate the contents learned this time into practical actions in production and promote the improvement of quality and efficiency of the apple industry.
