Propagation methods of Desert Rose
I. Cuttage
It is usually chosen to breed in this way in spring and summer. First of all, find some 1-to 2-year-old branches, the top branch is the best, and then cut it into several segments, each about 10 cm. After cutting, you will find that the juice will flow out. Note that the juice is poisonous. Wash it off with clean water, and then leave it in a cool place to dry. After that, you can use clean river sand as the substrate and insert the branches into it. During the cutting period, we must pay attention to control the amount and frequency of watering, as long as let the substrate slightly moist, to properly block the sun, generally 3 to 4 weeks later can take root.
2. Pressing strips
It can be propagated by striping, the survival rate is very high, and the steps are very simple. Usually, we can use this method to propagate in the growing season, and the best time is in spring and summer. When pressing the strip, first use a knife to cut the place where it takes root, then wrap the wound with soil, then find a transparent film to wrap it, and tie both ends tightly. After that, when the root grows to the place of the film, it can be cut off and planted.
III. Grafting
When grafting, it must not be carried out in the rainy season, the best in spring, so that we can see it blossom quickly. Usually the length of the scion is between 7 and 10 centimeters. After the grafting, you need to put it in the dark. If the grafting is successful, wait 10 days for it to recover from the cut, and then put it on the sunny ground.
Fourth, sowing seeds
In fact, it is not easy to bear fruit, and it usually needs to be pollinated manually. When its fruit is ripe, it will crack naturally, so the seeds can be easily lost. So we have to harvest it before it splits. After the seeds are collected, we should plant them as soon as possible. If we need to store them, we should keep them in a cool place as far as possible, otherwise the seeds will easily lose their growth ability.
