Recently, the stable and low prices of some indica rice producing areas in southern China are affected by many factors. Among them, poor sales of rice is one of the important reasons for the decline in rice prices. In the second quarter, the sales of the domestic rice market decreased compared with the first quarter, coupled with the fact that the southern market was also occupied by imported rice, the enthusiasm of processing and purchasing rice was low, and it is expected that the indica rice market will remain weak in the later period.

The price of middle and late rice in southern indica rice production areas declined steadily; as of May 6, the price of middle and late rice in southern indica rice production was generally stable, with a slight decline in some areas. Monitoring shows that the purchase price of common late indica rice in Yichun, Jiangxi is 1.40 yuan / jin, 0.02-0.03 yuan / jin lower than that before the festival, Huang Huazhan's purchase price is 1.52-1.55 yuan / jin, 0.04 yuan / jin lower than that before the festival, and the purchase price of middle and late rice in Yueyang, Hunan is 1.40-1.43 yuan / jin, which is the same as that before the festival.

Recently, the relevant state departments announced the acquisition of middle and late rice in 2014. As of March 31, various grain enterprises in 14 major middle and late indica rice producing areas, including Hubei and Anhui, had purchased 28.21 million tons of new medium and late indica rice, a decrease of 1.52 million tons over the same period last year; grain enterprises in seven major japonica rice producing areas, including Heilongjiang and Jiangsu, had purchased 39.84 million tons of new japonica rice, an increase of 6.82 million tons over the same period last year.

The transaction ratio of policy-based acquisition of rice is still low; the policy-based rice bidding resumed in mid-April, but the transaction volume is still relatively low compared with the total purchase volume of middle and late rice. Statistics show that since May last year, the total turnover of the three kinds of rice has been 6.33 million tons, including 810000 tons for early rice, 3.28 million tons for middle and late rice, and 2.24 million tons for japonica rice. In recent years, the purchase of policy-oriented rice is expected to exceed 70 million tons.
