According to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, the cumulative production of chemical pesticides nationwide in the first quarter of this year was 890.56 million tons, up only 0.02% year-on-year. The growth rate was the lowest in recent years and was close to zero growth.

In terms of varieties, a total of 474,390 tons of herbicides were produced nationwide in the first quarter, up 0.1% year-on-year, accounting for 53% of all chemical pesticide output; the total output of pesticides was 118,300 tons, down 0.3% year-on-year; and the total output of fungicides was 47,120 tons, up 0.05% year-on-year.

Expert analysis pointed out that the structural adjustment of chemical pesticide products is further intensified, and the pressure on environmental protection and safety is increasingly apparent in the pesticide industry. With the ban on the use of highly toxic pesticides in fruits, vegetables, tea and traditional Chinese medicine, the market for highly toxic pesticides will further shrink and the growth rate of pesticides will slow down.
