Organic Agriculture helps to increase Farmers' income and Environmental Protection in Northeast China
"in the past, the income of growing corn on an acre of land was 500 yuan at most, and there was little left except pesticides and fertilizers. Now that organic blueberries are planted, the annual income per mu is at least 2000 yuan. " Wang Peng, a villager of Guanghua Village, Tonghua County, Jilin Province, said.
Wang Peng's village is located in the eastern mountain area of Changbai Mountain. In order to reduce agricultural non-point source pollution, the local government promotes the cooperation of companies, cooperatives and bases to grow organic blueberries, which brings tangible benefits to local farmers. More and more farmers want to join cooperatives.
"I only have more than six mu of land accepted by the company into the scope of land transfer. If there is more, I hope I can plant blueberries." Wang Peng said.
Wang Peng is so eager to grow blueberries because Tonghua Heyun Modern Agriculture Co., Ltd. has built an organic food base on his doorstep, which has benefited many villagers. Because blueberry cultivation does not use chemical fertilizers and pesticides, local agricultural non-point source pollution is effectively reduced.
It is understood that this project has significantly increased the income of farmers in Guanghua Village, with an average annual income of 35000 yuan. More than 200 local idle workers have been employed, and the monthly wage income of farmers has reached more than 1 million yuan, which is 3.8 times higher than that of traditional crops.
Taking organic rice as an example, Lin Kui, a villager from Jiushaping Village, Jingxin Town, Hunchun City, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province, told reporters that after his rice was processed, the relevant enterprises were responsible for transportation and sales, with a purchase price of about 11 yuan per catty. Part of the income will also be returned to farmers, which is calculated to be about 17 yuan per jin of rice, which far exceeds the price of ordinary rice.
Organic agriculture refers to a mode of agricultural production that does not use chemically synthesized pesticides, chemical fertilizers, growth regulators, feed additives, ion radiation technology, genetic engineering technology and its products in the production process of plants and animals, but adopts a series of sustainable agricultural production technologies to coordinate planting and aquaculture and maintain the sustained and stable development of agro-ecosystem.
With the improvement of Chinese living standards and health awareness, the demand for organic green products is growing rapidly, which promotes the rapid development of organic agriculture.
The China Organic Industry Development report estimates that the sales of organic products in China in 2013 were about 20 billion to 30 billion yuan, accounting for about 5 to 8 percent of the global market, making it the fourth largest consumer of organic products after the United States, Germany and France.
Wu Jingyu, general manager of an ecological technology company in Beijing, told reporters that at a time when the whole society attaches great importance to food safety, "private customization" of green food is gradually becoming a trend in cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, and the market potential is huge.
According to the data of the State Commission of Accreditation and Supervision, the current organic planting area in China is about 1.28 million hectares, accounting for 0.95% of the agricultural arable land, which is higher than the global average of 0.86%. In developed countries, the ratio is generally more than 5%. This means that there is still a lot of room for the development of organic planting potential in China.
Some analysts believe that the development of organic agriculture can not only increase farmers' income, but also effectively reduce agricultural non-point source pollution, so as to protect the ecological environment, which is a direction of China's agricultural transformation and development.
