However, the reporter recently visited the market and found that this move did not allow the authentic Xuyi lobster to occupy the market. Instead, the vast majority of wholesalers and restaurants in Shanghai are more in pursuit of lobsters from other producing areas.
Ni Zhijun, director of the aquatic products management department of Tongchuan Road Aquatic Market, said that at present, the average daily circulation of crayfish in the market is about 40,000 kg to 50,000 kg, which is not produced in Xuyi. The main sales force is Lianghu (Hunan, Hubei) shrimp, accounting for 60% of the total market sales, followed by Anhui shrimp, Jiangsu shrimp and Shandong shrimp, sharing the remaining 40% equally. The reporter visited the Shangnong batch Aquatic area and Jiangyang North Road Aquatic Market and found that Xuyi lobster had a similar situation.
In restaurants, this phenomenon is more obvious. Why Xuyi lobster is not as expected? Spent a lot of money and energy to fight counterfeiting, but failed to get the attention of operators and consumers, and even squeezed out of the market by other competitors, some industry insiders pointed out that a large part of the reason is that "Xuyi lobster" chose the wrong protection strategy. In the final analysis, Xuyi lobster lacks a "significant difference" compared with other crayfish. "if you are not afraid of counterfeiting and plagiarism, you must fully highlight the characteristics of geographical indications so that others cannot copy them even if they want to." Lin Haihan, director of the Trademark Office of the Municipal Bureau of Industry and Commerce, said that instead of struggling to fight counterfeiting, it is better to cultivate crayfish with outstanding characteristics, expand the breeding scale, enhance the performance-to-price ratio on the premise of ensuring quality, and at the same time improve the traceability system of supply and marketing information in order to be truly recognized by the market.
