Minister of Environmental Protection Chen Jining said in Beijing on the 14th that it is necessary to carry out in-depth demonstration construction of ecological civilization, on the basis of promoting the construction of ecological provinces, focus on cities and counties to speed up the upgrading of demonstration areas for the construction of ecological civilization, and strive to promote green transformation and development.
It is understood that since the National outline of Ecological Environmental Protection issued by the State Council in 2000, the construction of ecological provinces has been carried out in 16 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, including Hainan, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Fujian, Zhejiang, Shandong, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hebei, Guangxi, Sichuan, Liaoning, Tianjin, Shanxi, Henan and Hubei. More than 1000 cities, counties and regions are promoting the construction of ecological provinces. Vigorously carry out the construction of ecological cities and counties, 92 areas have achieved phased results of ecological cities and counties, won names, built 4596 ecological townships, and created a number of advanced models of coordinated economic, social and environmental development.
