Traditional fruit and vegetable cultivation breaks new ground
With the development of science and technology in the field of agriculture, the traditional vegetable planting method is gradually being replaced by large-scale and mechanized modern agriculture because of its long production cycle, low yield efficiency, poor economic benefits and so on. In addition, many agricultural subjects are also trying to grow novel agricultural products in order to seek the market. However, Xinyang Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., located in Xinyi Town, Xiuzhou District, has taken the opposite direction, taking a "return" road, specializing in traditional fruit and vegetable cultivation, and has achieved considerable benefits.
When I walked into the agricultural base, I saw dozens of mu of tomatoes on the market in the season, the neat rows of tomato branches covered with fruit, and several workers were busy picking. "as they are locally produced tomatoes and have just been on the market, the wholesale price of tomatoes per jin is between 2 yuan and 2.5 yuan, which is still quite high, and the price is relatively stable during this period of time." Wang Jiasheng, a technician at the base, said that at present, there are many varieties of tomatoes planted in the base, such as early, medium, and late, and those that are on the market in the near future are early-maturing tomatoes, which can be listed for more than 1000 kilograms a day, with considerable benefits.
According to reports, the whole agricultural base uses traditional methods to grow a variety of timely and seasonal vegetables, and vegetables grow under natural conditions. So, how to solve the problem of long planting cycle and low economic income of traditional vegetables? It is reported that the agricultural base selects excellent varieties to shorten the vegetable planting cycle, coupled with the flexible use of the base land to improve economic benefits. For example, during the tomato seedling stage, the base will plant lettuce, cucumbers and other fruits and vegetables in rotation to make full use of the land, which can also increase a lot of income. "despite the fact that we grow traditional vegetables, it's not easy to grow them well." Wang Jiasheng said that the reason why the base grows well every season is mainly because it has mastered the planting technology of vegetables on the basis of returning to tradition, and it is estimated that it will not be able to do so if it is replaced with other new and strange fruits and vegetables.
In fact, Xinyang Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. used to be engaged in the cultivation of some novel crops, although it has spent a lot of energy, but the rate of return is relatively low. "if you try something new, you don't know whether it's good to grow it or not. moreover, there are some problems in investment, technology, sales and so on." Chen Wei, head of the base, said that the consumers who plant fruit trees in the base are mainly ordinary people, so now they focus on the cultivation of traditional fruits and vegetables. for example, there are five or six varieties of tomatoes in the base, and the market time can last from the end of April to mid-July, and the benefits are very good.
