National Statistical Bulletin of Fisheries economy in 2014

In 2013, under the great attention and correct leadership of the leading party groups and party committees and governments at all levels, the national fishery system took the implementation of Guofa document No. 11 and the spirit of the teleconference on modern fishery construction of the State Council as an important task. Determined innovation, unity and hard work, overcame major difficulties at home and abroad, such as complex and changeable economic environment, heavy natural disasters, fluctuations in the aquatic product market, and so on. The national fishery economy has continued to develop rapidly, the security situation has generally improved, and various tasks have been successfully completed in an all-round way.

Total output value and added value of fishery economy in the whole society

Calculated at current prices, the total fishery economic output value of the whole society was 2.085895 trillion yuan, with an added value of 971.845 billion yuan, of which the fishery output value was 1.086139 trillion yuan, with an added value of 611.669 billion yuan; the fishery industry and construction industry output value was 487.53 billion yuan, with an added value of 177.939 billion yuan; and the fishery circulation and service industry output value was 512.226 billion yuan, achieving an added value of 182.238 billion yuan. The proportion of output value of the three industries is 52 ∶ 23 ∶ 25, and the proportion of added value is 63 ∶ 18 ∶ 19.

Among the fishery output value, the output value of marine fishing is 194.797 billion yuan, the added value is 114.231 billion yuan, the output value of mariculture is 281.547 billion yuan, the added value is 160.845 billion yuan, the output value of freshwater fishing is 42.851 billion yuan, the added value is 25.449 billion yuan, and the output value of freshwater aquaculture is 507.258 billion yuan. realize the added value of 280.166 billion yuan The output value of aquatic seedlings is 59.687 billion yuan, and the added value is 30.978 billion yuan (fishery output value and added value are subject to the annual report of the National Bureau of Statistics).

Among the fishery output value (excluding fry), the output value ratio of seawater products to freshwater products was 46 ∶ 54, and that of aquaculture products to fishing products was 77 ∶ 23. In fishery value added (excluding fry), the value added ratio of seawater products to freshwater products was 47 ∶ 53, and that of farmed products to fishing products was 76 ∶ 24.

Per capita net income of fishermen

According to a sample survey of the income and expenditure of 10, 000 fishermen across the country in that year, the per capita net income of fishermen nationwide was 14426.26 yuan, an increase of 1387.48 yuan or 10.64 percent over the previous year.

Output and per capita share of aquatic products

The country's total output of aquatic products was 64.6152 million tons, an increase of 4.69 percent over the previous year. Among them, aquaculture output was 47.4841 million tons, up 4.55 percent over the same period last year, fishing production was 17.1311 million tons, up 5.08 percent over the same period last year, the ratio of aquaculture products to fishing products was 73 ∶ 27; the output of seawater products was 32.9622 million tons, up 5.01 percent over the same period last year; the output of freshwater products was 31.653 million tons, up 4.36 percent over the same period last year; and the ratio of seawater products to freshwater products was 51 ∶ 49.

The output of offshore fisheries was 2.0273 million tons, an increase of 49.95 percent over the same period last year, accounting for 3.14 percent of the total output of aquatic products.

The per capita share of aquatic products in China was 47.24kg (population 1.36782 billion), an increase of 1.89kg or 4.17% over the previous year.

Aquaculture area

The area of aquaculture in China was 8386.36 thousand hectares, an increase of 0.78 percent over the same period last year. Among them, the area of mariculture was 2305.47 thousand hectares, down 0.44 percent from the same period last year; the area of freshwater aquaculture was 6080.89 thousand hectares, an increase of 1.24 percent over the same period last year; and the ratio of mariculture to freshwater aquaculture was 27 ∶ 73.

Number of fishing vessels owned

At the end of the year, there were 1.0653 million fishing vessels with a total tonnage of 10.7043 million tons. Among them, there are 686800 motorized fishing vessels with a total tonnage of 10.2144 million tons and a total power of 22.2755 million kilowatts, while 378600 non-motorized fishing vessels with a total tonnage of 489,900 tons.

Among the motorized fishing vessels, there are 658000 production fishing vessels with a total tonnage of 9.1766 million tons and a total power of 20.1811 million kilowatts, while 28800 auxiliary fishing vessels with a total tonnage of 1.0378 million tons and a total power of 2.0944 million kilowatts.

Fishery population and fishery practitioners

The fishery population was 20.3504 million, a decrease of 113700 or 0.56 per cent over the previous year. Among the fishery population, the number of traditional fishermen was 6.864 million, a decrease of 260500 and 3.66 per cent over the previous year. The number of fishery employees was 14.2902 million, a decrease of 140400 or 0.97% over the previous year.

Import and export of aquatic products

According to customs statistics, China's imports and exports of aquatic products totaled 8.4443 million tons and US $30.884 billion, up 3.87 percent and 6.86 percent respectively over the same period last year. Of this total, exports were 4.1633 million tons and US $21.698 billion, up 5.16% and 7.08% respectively over the same period last year; imports were 4.281 million tons and US $9.186 billion, up 2.65% and 6.34% respectively over the same period last year.

Fishery disaster situation

In the whole year, due to the fishery disaster, the output of aquatic products lost 1.3188 million tons, the affected farming area was 832.88 thousand hectares, 1255 shipwrecks were sunk, 88 people were killed, missing or seriously injured, and the direct economic loss was 21.186 billion yuan.
