A total of eight ports in China and Myanmar carry out border trade business, and since April 7 this year, a number of Sino-Myanmar border trade ports have been temporarily closed one after another. Since July 8, with the exception of Qingshuihe Port, all other Sino-Myanmar land border trade ports need to be closed due to epidemic prevention and control. After the Qingshuihe port was closed on October 6, all the land border trade ports between China and Myanmar were closed.

China is the largest export destination for watermelons and cantaloupes in Myanmar, with an annual export volume of more than 800000 tons. After the closure of the port, Myanmar watermelons will no longer be exported to China. Affected by the epidemic and the closure of the port, after the end of the National Day holiday, the melon and fruit trade market in Kumachi has begun to repatriate thousands of Burmese migrant workers. Burmese traders say the closure of the Qingshui River will make Myanmar's already shrinking export sector even worse.

Qingshuihe Port is the second largest border trade port between China and Myanmar after Mujie Port, and it is also the first national international port in Myanmar. Myanmar mainly exports all kinds of agricultural products to China through this port. After the closure of the Qingshuihe port, Burmese agricultural products will not be exported to China, and the prices of various commodities imported from China will also rise.

China is Myanmar's largest export market, with bilateral trade of about US $6.132 billion in the first seven months of the 2020-2021 fiscal year, according to the Myanmar Ministry of Commerce. Of this amount, Myanmar exported US $3.18 billion to China and imported US $2.95 billion from China.
