The Chiayi County government commissioned the Meishan Township Farmers' Association to hold the 2021 fine tea competition for leaflet black tea in Chiayi County. this year, due to climate change and the influence of the COVID-19 epidemic, tea farmers in the Great Alishan area paid a total of 152 points, more than 10% less than last year. In addition, the overall output of black tea has also decreased, but the judges still affirmed the winning tea, believing that the tea-making technology has improved significantly.

In response to COVID-19 's epidemic situation, epidemic prevention has been further upgraded in the course of this year's competition. Not only do tea payment and tea collection operations be carried out in time-sharing, zoning, and diversion, but all staff participating in the evaluation operation are required to monitor their body temperature. Tea farmers are not open to participate in the announcement of the results on the 30th. Instead, the list of winners will be announced live on the Facebook fan page of the Meishan Peasant Association.

The list of winners was announced at the scene. The special prize was won by Lin Shi from the Lin Yuan Tea Farm in Shiqi Village, Takesaki Township. In addition, the first prize was 15, including Qiu Hongren, 40 gold prize Wu Minghan, and 49 fine award Jian Chengxuan. The points of non-finalists accounted for 30.9% of the total entry points.

Lin Jinchi, director of the tea industry improvement market, and Guo Kuanfu, head of the division in front of the fish pond, led the professional tea tasters to review by stages. Guo Kuanfu said that the tea output this year was greatly affected by the weather. First, there were droughts in spring tea production, and there were several waves of rain in July and August. Due to too much rain and too high nitrogen fertilizer, black tea could not be made. In addition, tea farmers have to consider the subsequent autumn and winter tea production, and many people give up making black tea, resulting in a significant reduction in output.

Weng Zhangliang, the mayor of Chiayi County, and Chen Mingwen, a legislator, were also present to participate in the announcement of the results. Weng Zhangliang said that the standard of this selection was high, and the contestants were evaluated in an almost rigorous manner, especially the vast international market for black tea, if properly cultivated, it is quite promising to enter the European Union and Muslim markets in the future.

Weng Zhangliang even mentioned that Chiayi County has won the agreement to move south to change the tea site to the Fanlu Road, which is of epoch-making significance to the future development of the local tea industry, regardless of the injection of resources or the gathering of a large number of researchers in Chiayi. It plays an important role in the promotion, improvement, and integration of local tea into the world, and thanks Chen Mingwen for seeing the value of tea when he served as county magistrate. On this basis, Chiaxian will continue to promote the value of tea farmers through competitions.
