The seeds stored in    must be treated with appropriate measures before sowing in order to facilitate germination and shorten the germination period. The seeds after sand storage can be sown directly, but it is better to accelerate germination and then sow.

   (1) soak the seeds in cold water before sowing in spring, soak the dried seeds in cold water for 7 ~ 1 days, change the water once a day, make it fully absorb water, and then expose the soaked seeds in the sun to split the suture of walnut to sow. Where there is a river, walnuts can be put in running water, the effect is better. For those that do not crack, you can pick out and soak repeatedly, expose to the sun, and sow seeds until they are cracked. The seeds that did not open after 2 or 3 times of treatment had low germination rate, late emergence and weak growth after sowing.

   (2) the experience of soaking seeds in limewater in Nanpiancheng, Fenyang City, Shanxi Province, using 1.5kg quicklime plus 10kg hydration, pour 10kg walnut, press the walnut with stone, then add cold water, soak for 7 days without changing water, then remove it and bury it in wet sand cover with plastic film to keep warm and accelerate germination. After a few days, the suture can be split and sowed.

   (3) soak the seeds in warm water of 80 ℃ ("four open and one cool"). Stir the seeds with wood mixture and then soak them to room temperature. the treatment time is 7-10 days, and the water is changed once a day. After the seeds are split, they can be sowed.

   (4) soaking seeds in hot water can soak seeds in boiling water 1.5 ~ 2 times of seed weight for 2 minutes without stirring, and sow seeds immediately after soaking seeds. This method is an emergency method and is generally not recommended.

according to the characteristics of walnut seeds, dry stored seeds have high germination rate before sowing, low dry storage cost and simple operation. It is suggested that low temperature dry storage should be used in production. Soaking seeds and sun exposure in spring can save time and labor, and can also prevent seeds from mildew and rot in the process of sand storage.

The common methods of promoting germination in    are as follows: mix walnut seeds with 4 times volume of wet sand (water content 6o%), stir evenly, spread them into 20 cm thick on the sunny ground, cover them with plastic sheeting, let them bask in the sun during the day, cover them with grass curtains to keep warm, turn them once every morning and afternoon, and sow seeds when the germ is slightly out.
