   1, Greenling

Source and distribution of   : Bud mutation selected from Xiangling walnut by Hebei Agricultural University and Hebei Luling Fruit Industry Co., Ltd. Selected in 1995, after many generations of grafting and reproduction, the character is stable, pilot test in 2000, approved and named by Hebei Forest Variety examination and approval Committee in 2005.

   fruit economic characters: nut oval, light yellow, horizontal, vertical and high average diameter 3.42cm, single fruit weight 12.8g, shell thickness 0. 5%. 8 mm, uniform without kernel, the suture is smooth but not prominent, the fruit surface is smooth and beautiful; the inner seed coat is light yellow, no astringent taste, the kernel color is light yellow, full and fragrant, the kernel yield is more than 67%; the fat content is 67%, and the protein content is 22%. Compared with Xiangling, Lvling walnut has the advantages of thin shell, large fruit, high kernel yield, high fat and protein content and so on.

   growth and fruiting habits: the tree is strong and open. The female inflorescence has 1-2 flowers, and the male inflorescence is 2-4 cm long. In Lincheng, Hebei Province, the sprouting period is late in March, the leaf spreading period is in the first half of April, the fruit ripening period is 3-5 days later than Xiangling in early September, the fruit growth period is 110-120 days, and the defoliation period is in November. In the full fruit period, attention should be paid to the use of upper branches and buds to strengthen bones in the branches, retract and renew perennial fruiting mother branches and drooping branches. Participated in the national regional test of early-bearing walnut varieties during the Seventh five-year Plan period, and is being introduced and cultivated in North and Northwest provinces.

   fruit economic characters: the average single fruit weight is 13.02g, the maximum is 15.5g, the average three-diameter is 3.58cm, the shell surface is smooth and beautiful, the shell thickness is 1.19mm, the suture is tight, the whole kernel can be taken, the kernel rate is 51%, the kernel color is light, the flavor is fragrant, and the quality is high.

   growth and fruiting habits: the plant growth potential is strong, the tree posture is more erect, the branch angle is about 55 °, and the crown is round head. The leaves are big and thick, dark green. Belongs to the male first type, the mature variety. The variety has strong high yield, cold resistance, drought resistance and disease resistance, and has strict requirements for cultivation conditions. It is suitable to grow in arid loess hilly region, and its fruiting life is long when the cultivation condition is good.

   3, Zhonglin No.1

Source and distribution of   : the Forestry Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Forestry Sciences used Fenyang Chuanzi in Shanxi Province as the female parent and Qixian Jian 9-7-3 as the male parent. It passed the appraisal of the Ministry of Forestry in 1989. It belongs to the variety type of early bearing walnut.

Economic characters of    fruit: the average weight of single fruit is 10.45g, the maximum is 13.1g, the average diameter is 3.38cm, the shell surface is smooth and beautiful, the shell thickness is 1.1mm, the suture line is slightly convex, the combination is close, 2 kernels can be taken, the kernel rate is 57.4%, the kernel color is light, the flavor is fragrant, and the quality is high. It can be stored in a ventilated, dry and cold place (less than 8 ℃) without deterioration in quality for one year.

   growth and fruiting habits: the plant growth potential is strong, the tree posture is more open, the branch angle is about 65 °, and the crown is naturally round head. The leaves are thick, dark green and have strong photosynthetic capacity. They belong to female antecedent and mid-mature varieties. This variety has strong continuous fruiting ability, too much fruit is easy to become small, pay attention to enhance fertilizer and water management. It is less resistant to cold, drought and disease.

   4, Jinfeng

Source and distribution of   : Shanxi Forestry Science Research Institute selected from Xinjiang walnut seedlings introduced in Qixian County. Participated in the national regional test of early-bearing walnut varieties during the Seventh five-year Plan period, mainly cultivated in Shanxi, Shaanxi, Henan and other places. It belongs to the variety type of early bearing walnut.

The economic characters of    fruit: the nut is medium large, oval, the average weight of nut is 11.34g, the maximum is 14.3g, the average three-diameter is 3.47cm, and the shell is smooth and beautiful. Shell thickness 0.81 mm, tight suture, can take the whole kernel, kernel rate of 67.0%, light kernel color, flavor, high quality and so on. In the ventilated, dry and cool crust (below 8 ℃), the quality can be stored for 10 months without deterioration.

   growth and fruiting habits: the plant grows moderately, the tree posture opens, the branch angle is about 70 °, and the crown is semicircular. As a result, the branches are strong, the leaves are thick, dark green, glossy, and belong to the male precocious type, precocious variety. The variety has high and stable yield, high fruit setting rate and weak dryness. Attention should be paid to sulfur flower thinning, strengthening fertilizer and water management, reducing small fruit rate and prolonging fruit life. The variety is cold-resistant, drought-resistant and disease-resistant. The female flowers are more open, which is beneficial to avoid the harm of frost.
