Excellent local pig breeds in China

   (1) New Taihu Pig

   1. Origin and distribution: originated in Taihu Lake Basin.

   2, physique and appearance: the new Taihu pig is slightly larger than the old Taihu pig, the head is large and the forehead is wide, the forehead and hindquarters have obvious wrinkles, the ears are large, soft and drooping, approximately triangular, the waist is slightly concave, the chest is deep, the abdomen is large and drooping, the hip width is tilted, the limbs are slightly higher, the lying system is loose hoof, and the coat is all black. There are also four hoof tail tips are white, nipples are generally 8-9 pairs.

   3, production performance: new Taihu pigs give birth to more than 14 sows on average, the growth rate is fast, the daily gain is more than 650g, the lean meat rate is more than 56%, and the feed reward is high, which can reach 3.0: 1.

   hybrid utilization: new Taihu pig has excellent breed, good high yield performance and excellent production performance in combination with exotic pig breeds, so it is an ideal hybrid wood for commercial lean pigs.

   (2) two black pigs

   1, Origin and distribution: produced in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and Jiangnan plain lake areas, hilly areas.

   2, physique and appearance: the torso and limbs of two black pigs in central China are white, the head, neck, buttocks and tail are black, the head is short and wide, the forehead wrinkles are mostly diamond-shaped, those with thick forehead wrinkles are called lion's head, and the nipples are generally 6-7 pairs.

   3, production performance: Ganxi two black pigs and Tongcheng pigs are smaller, Dongshan and Jianli pigs are larger. The body weight of two black pigs at the age of 8 months can reach 80 kg, the slaughtering rate is 71%, and the carcass lean percentage is 41% and 44%.

The utilization of    hybridization: Liangtou black pig has early sexual maturity, stable heredity and strong fecundity, so it is an excellent female parent for economic hybridization.

   (3) Min Pig

   1. Origin and distribution: originated in Northeast and North China.

   2, physique and appearance: the head of the pig is medium size, the face is straight and long, the head lines are vertical, the ears are big and drooping, the body is flat, the waist is narrow, the buttocks are inclined, the limbs are stout, the whole body is covered with black hair, and the nipples are 7-8 pairs.

   3, production performance: Min pigs have the characteristics of high reproductive performance and large litter size, with an average of 11 litters in the first birth and 1214 in sows. The lean meat rate is 47. 5%. More than 6%.

   4. Cross utilization: using Min pig as female parent to cross with Landrace, large White, Duroc and other breeds, a better hybridization effect can be obtained.

   (4) Neijiang Pig

   1, Origin and distribution: produced in Neijiang City and Neijiang County, Sichuan Province.

   2, physique appearance: big body, big head, short mouth tube, deep groove on the forehead, uplift in the middle of the forehead skin, commonly known as "cover bowl". The ears are medium-sized, drooping, the body is wide and deep, the back and waist are slightly concave, the abdomen is large and does not mop the floor, the limbs are stout, the coat is all black, and the nipples are 6-7 pairs.

   3, production performance: the daily weight gain of Neijiang pig is about 410g, and the dressing percentage is about 67.5%. The breeding began at the age of 5 and 6 months, and the litter size of sows was 9 and 10.

   4. Cross utilization: Neijiang pig was used as male parent and crossed with Landrace and Yorkshire pig breeds. The first generation of hybrid pigs had obvious heterosis of daily weight gain rate and showed good production performance.

   (5) New Huainan Pig

   1, Origin and Distribution: produced in Tongshi, Mall, Luoshan, Xinxian, Guangshan and the south of Huaihe River in Xinyang and Huaibin.

   2, physique and appearance: according to its head shape, it can be divided into two types: "Qi mouth big ear type" and "sharp mouth small ear type". Qi mouth big ear type is commonly known as "three mouths" or "three mouths fall into a slot". He is of medium build and has black fur. The ears are big and drooping, the forehead is wide, the mouth is slightly short and thick, the forehead is mostly straight, the abdomen is large and drooping but ungrounded, the buttocks are tilted, and the hindquarters are not plump.

   3, production performance: the selected Huainan pigs had strong sexual desire and strong breeding ability, with 8-10 pairs of sows with 8-10 pairs of nipples, first mating at the age of 5-6 months, 2.2-2.5 litters and 12-14 litters.

   4. Cross utilization: the new Huainan pig as the female parent crosses with the imported foreign lean type pig, the effect is better.
