The middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River are important producing areas of rape in China. In recent years, in accordance with the deployment and requirements of tackling key problems of increasing production model in some agricultural areas, the Hubei Provincial Department of Agriculture has strengthened cooperation and joint efforts with the agricultural departments of Hunan, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Sichuan and other provinces to tackle key problems. Academician Fu Tingdong and Academician Guan Chunyun and other expert teams participated and guided meticulously throughout the process, and made positive progress in rape variety selection, mechanical operation, model innovation, and so on.

First, new breakthroughs have been made in the breeding of "precocious and three high" varieties. In the area of rice-rice-oil triple cropping system in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the breeding of rape varieties with short growth period, high yield and good quality is the focus of the yield-increasing model. In cooperation with Wuhan Lianong seed Industry Science and Technology Co., Ltd., Huazhong Agricultural University selected an early-maturing and high-quality rape variety Shengguang 127, which was approved by Hubei Province in 2014. The variety is a semi-winter Brassica napus hybrid rape, in line with the double-low standard, oil content of 45.8%, for the middle and lower part of the branch type, strong lodging resistance. The growth period is 205 days, which is about 40 days shorter than that of common rape varieties, and the yield per mu can reach 200 kg in regional trial, which is suitable for planting in rice-rice-oil triple cropping area. In addition, Huazao 291, 420 and other precocious combinations perform well in Hubei, Hunan and other places, and are expected to pass examination and approval.

Second, new achievements have been made in the key links of machine harvesting. To solve the problem of low yield of rape planting machine is the key to reduce labor intensity and improve planting efficiency. The mechanical transplanting technology of rape blanket seedling developed by experts not only meets the requirements of mechanical transplanting, but also realizes the integrated operation of seedling extraction, carrying, de-seedling, soil embedding, transplanting, soil covering and watering, and the transplanting efficiency is high. 30-40 mu can be planted every day, which is 60 times that of artificial transplanting. Through the technical improvement of the combine harvester, the rape harvest loss rate is controlled at 8%, and the operation efficiency can reach 5 mu per hour.

Third, new progress has been made in the model demonstration of high yield and high efficiency. Green yield-increasing technical models such as oil rice, rape-medium rice-ratooning rice, green manure rape-double cropping rice and so on were integrated in Hubei province. Jiangxi Province has demonstrated different technical models, such as mechanical trenching no-tillage direct seeding machine harvesting in rice-oil area, mechanical precision sowing harvest in rice-oil area, mechanical trenching direct seeding machine harvesting in rice-oil area, interplanting in cotton field, ploughing and direct seeding machine harvesting in dry land, and so on. The technical model of annual yield increase of rice and oil carried out in Jiangsu Province has not only achieved high yield in two seasons, but also achieved good economic and ecological benefits.

Fourth, the working mechanism of cooperation and linkage has achieved new results. All localities actively explore the working mechanism of the large-scale combination and cooperation of agriculture, science and education, and jointly promote the green mode of increasing production. Hubei Province adopted the method of experts leading teams and projects with funds, and the agricultural department and experts jointly carried out a demonstration of the whole process of mechanized production of rape in 10,000 mu, and held a large-scale competition of live broadcast of machinery, which effectively promoted the integration of agricultural machinery and agronomy. At the same time, the five provinces in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River jointly tackle key problems among provinces, strengthen technical exchanges, organize on-site observation, and speed up the transformation of achievements in the aspects of variety selection and improvement, cultivation model innovation, and supporting machinery research and development. it has realized the sharing of talents, information, technology and other resources and complementary advantages, and promoted the rape green yield-increasing model to a higher level.
