Nowadays, people have all kinds of pets, and this has led to the development of special farming projects in rural areas. Today, let's talk about the breeds of foxes. At present, there are two genera of foxes raised in the world, namely, the genus Foxus and the arctic fox and the variants of these two genera. There are red foxes, silver foxes and various colored foxes in the genus foxes, and arctic foxes also include a series of colored foxes.

1. Red fox

The red fox has a long face, a pointed kiss, erect ears, a slender body, slightly higher limbs (compared with the arctic fox), and the tail can account for more than half of the body length. The coat is brown-red as the basic coat color, and the ears and limbs are black. The muzzle is yellowish brown. The coat of throat, chest and abdomen is light, white or black-white; the upper tail hair is reddish brown with black, the tail tip is white, and the fur of young fox is light grayish brown. Red foxes are seldom raised by farmers in our country. But the red fox is the source of producing all kinds of colored foxes and the gene bank of all kinds of colored foxes. In the long run, qualified markets can be properly raised to produce all kinds of colored foxes needed by the market.

Second, silver and black fox

Silver and black fox is also known as silver fox. Native to northern North America and eastern Siberia, it is a coat color mutant of red fox under wild natural conditions. Therefore, its body shape and appearance is the same as that of the red fox, but the coat color is quite different. The snout, back of both ears, abdomen and limbs of the silver-black fox are all black; the back and side of the body are black and white and silver-black. The silver quilt is determined by the color of the needle hair, the color of the needle hair is black and gray at the base, the section close to the hair tip is white, while the hair tip is still black, because the white hair segment is set off between the black hair segments, thus forming a gorgeous silver fog warning. The position (depth) and proportion of the white segment of the needle hair determines the silver strength of the fur. The fluff is grayish brown and the tail tip is white. At present, some silver-black foxes are raised in some fields in our country, because they produce fewer babies than arctic foxes, most farmers raise less, but the price is relatively stable, even when foxes are at a low ebb, its price is also higher than arctic foxes. After more than 100 years of cultivation, the silver-black fox has become bigger and more adaptable, and the quality of plush has been greatly improved compared with that in the wild. In general, under good feeding conditions, the weight of male foxes reaches 5.8 to 7.8 kilograms and the body length reaches 66 to 75 centimeters, while the female foxes weigh 5.2 to 7.2 kilograms and the body length is 62 to 70 centimeters. Silver-black fox is one of the main breeds raised in the world. Except for self-sale, the silver-black fox skin produced in China is mainly exported to Russia.

3. Colorful foxes of the genus Fox

In the process of raising red foxes, new mutants continue to emerge. In addition to silver and black foxes, there are platinum foxes, pearl foxes, sapphire foxes, chocolate foxes and Colleott. Brown fox, Huanghua fox, white-faced fox, daylight fox, George white fox, arctic marble fox and Jinhui fox, these foxes are the same size as red fox and silver-black fox.

4. Arctic fox (blue fox)

The arctic fox is slightly smaller than the red silver black fox, with short kisses, wide and round ears, short limbs, chubby posture, thick coat, and short and sparse needle hair. The fluff is dense to adapt to the cold climate. Arctic foxes are native to the high latitudes of northern Europe, Asia and North America, such as Aleutian, Kumando, Alaska, Greenland and Siberia.

Arctic foxes have two types of fur in the wild: one is light blue, which keeps a dark color all the year round, so it is called blue fox; the other is white in winter (but the undercoat is gray), and the coat becomes darker in other seasons, that is, white arctic fox.

The adult Arctic fox has a body length of 65 cm and a weight of 5.5 kg, while a female fox has a length of 55 cm and a weight of 4.5 kg.

Finnish Arctic Fox

Finnish arctic fox is a new super-large arctic fox breed in Finland after years of selection and cultivation under natural conditions in recent years. The body length is 70-90 cm and the weight is 12-16 kg, with a maximum of 20 kg, which is 2-3 times that of the small arctic fox in China. The physique is relaxed, the skin has wrinkles, and the skin elongation is 72% of that of the living body. Therefore, the utilization rate of fur is higher. The Finnish Arctic fox is densely fluffy, the needle hair is symmetrical and flat, and the blue is shiny. The production of commodity leather can generally reach "00"-"0000" leather, which is a good variety. However, the Finnish arctic fox is after all bred in Finland, a country of thousands of lakes, and its geographical latitude, light, climate and feed conditions are quite different from those of China. To be able to fully adapt to the environmental conditions of our country, it also needs a process of acclimation. However, the hybrid improvement of small arctic foxes in China should be one of the preferred varieties. China began to introduce Finnish foxes to improve our small arctic foxes in 1996, and it has reached 3 to 4 generations or more, mainly in some large farms.

VI. Colorful Arctic Fox

During the long-term domestication of arctic foxes, many new mutants also appeared. Such as Shadow Fox, Shadow White Fox, Sapphire Arctic Fox, Arctic Pearl Fox, White Arctic Fox, Blue Star Fox and Houqen Platinum Fox. These colorful foxes are the same size as arctic foxes, and their breeding requirements are basically the same as those of arctic foxes.

Which of the above six fox breeds do you like best? Or have you seen any of them? If you want to raise foxes, it is very important to learn good breeding skills, so don't try it rashly.
