1. Bohai Bay producing area
This region includes Jiaodong Peninsula, Taiyi Mountain area, southern Liaoning and western Liaoning, most of Hebei and Beijing and Tianjin. In 2000, the area of apples in this area was 10.619 million mu, with an output of 7.7603 million tons, accounting for 28.99 percent and 38.35 percent of the country's total, respectively; the export volume of apples was 137700 tons, accounting for 60.12 percent of the country's total, and the commodity rate of high-quality fruits was high. The cultivated area and yield of the 28 priority counties in this area are 6.2301 million mu and 5.7263 million tons, accounting for 58.77% and 73.8% of the total area respectively. In 2005, the cultivated area of apple accounted for 39% of the total area of apples in China, and the output accounted for 43% of the total output of the country.
Dalian and Yingkou are concentrated in the south of Liaoning, while Huludao and Linghai are the main areas in the west of Liaoning. This area has sufficient heat, good light and moderate precipitation. In Taiyi mountain area, the temperature is higher, which is beneficial to the early maturity and listing of mid-early maturity varieties; the coastal area is the largest commodity production area of middle and late maturity varieties in China with cool summer, long autumn and sufficient light, and the export conditions of this area are superior. Convenient transportation; attracting more foreign investment, rapid development of enterprises, obvious advantages of industrialization; strong technical force of scientific research and popularization in this area, and high technical level of fruit growers.
Fuji and Xinhongxing varieties are mainly cultivated in the mountainous area of central Shandong and the northwest plain of Shandong. Hebei, Beijing and Tianjin are mainly concentrated in the north, with Tangshan and Zhangjiakou as the best. Beijing is dominated by Miyun, Changping and Yanqing. Tianjin is a new area of Apple, mainly concentrated in the suburbs.
This area mainly develops coloring system Fuji, spur Marshal, Jonagin, Golden Dwarf and so on.
2. Northwest Loess Plateau producing area
The region includes Weibei region of Shaanxi, southern Shanxi and Jinzhong of Shanxi, Sanmenxia of Henan and Longdong of Gansu. In 2000, the total area of apples was 12.714 million mu, accounting for 34.16 percent of the country's total; the output was 7.7279 million tons, accounting for 38.19 percent of the country's total; and the export volume was 32300 tons, accounting for 14.1 percent of the country's exports. The cultivated area and output of the 27 priority counties in this area are 7.263 million mu and 5.7376 million tons, accounting for 57.13% and 74.25% of the whole district, respectively.
This producing area has a low dimension, most of which belong to the Loess Plateau, with sufficient light, large temperature difference between day and night (11.8-16.6 ℃), and deep soil layer, so it is a high quality apple producing area. Tongchuan, Baishui, Luochuan and Tianshui in Gansu have become important bases for exporting apples in China.
The main apple varieties cultivated in this area are Fuji, Xinhongxing, Jonagin and so on.
3. The old route of the Yellow River and the producing areas at the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains
The area includes eastern Henan, southwestern Shandong, northern Jiangsu and northern Anhui, accounting for 11% and 14% of the country's total area and 14%, respectively. This year, the area of the fruit area at the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains has grown slowly, while the fruit area along the old route of the Yellow River has shown a significant growth trend.
In the old Yellow River producing area, the terrain is low and flat, the annual average temperature is 13-15 ℃, the average temperature in January is-1.6-1 ℃, the average temperature in July is 27-28 ℃, the annual rainfall is about 700ml, the sunshine hours are 2300-2500 hours, the soil is alluvial sandy soil, the soil organic matter is less, alkali, pH7-8, so begonia should be used as apple grafting rootstock. The growing season of fruit trees is longer, the fruit of young trees is earlier, and the fruit is mature earlier.
The dominant variety in this area is mainly Red Fuji.
4. Cool highland producing areas in southwest China
The area includes western Sichuan, two Tibetan autonomous prefectures of Aba and Ganzi, Zhaotong and Yiwei in northeastern Yunnan, Weining and Bijie in northwestern Guizhou, south of Xizang Changdu and the middle and lower reaches of the Brahmaputra River. The area and output account for 3% and 2% of the country respectively.
