Crape myrtle flower is more common in life, it is a kind of flower-based flowers, flowers blooming colorful, rich in color, common red, purple, white and so on, flowering time is generally in summer 6-9 months or so. It is mainly distributed in southwest, south, central and east China, and is widely cultivated everywhere. How do you harvest seeds? What are the breeding methods? Let's take a look at it together with Xiaobian.

How do you harvest seeds?

Crape myrtle seeds are generally collected from October to November. When collecting seeds, healthy plants with vigorous growth are generally selected as seed trees. When a small number of fruits are dehisced, the capsules are collected in the morning, dried to make the pericarp dehiscent and shed seeds, then impurities are removed, and the bags are stored in ventilated and dry places. Seed picking should not be too late, too late seed shedding, not easy to harvest.

Lagerstroemia seed is small and has wings at the top. Before sowing, soak the seed in 0.5% potassium permanganate solution for 2~4 hours for disinfection and sterilization, then take it out and wash it with clean water, soak it in warm water at 30℃ for 10~20 hours, take it out and drain it for germination, wash it with clean water 1~2 times a day, pay attention to control the seed temperature within 20~25℃, and sow it when the seed has 30% white.

2 What are the breeding methods of crape myrtle?

1. Sowing and breeding

Generally, the seeds of Lagerstroemia lagerstroemia can be harvested in November and December of each year, and can be sown in sandy soil in February and March of the following year. After sowing Lagerstroemia lagerstroemia, shade should be carried out. It is best to cut off the buds of Lagerstroemia, which can make the nutrients of Lagerstroemia flower more concentrated in the growth of the trunk.

2. Cutting propagation

The flowers are usually cut in March of each year. You can use the hard branches of Lagerstroemia, each section is generally only about 10 cm, and then insert 2/3 of the soil.

3. Reproduction by pressing branches

Crape myrtle pressing propagation is an important method of asexual propagation, which can effectively maintain the growth characteristics and ornamental characteristics of crape myrtle plants.

(1)Hard branches press branches. Before budding in spring, collect 1-year-old strong thick branches, cut them into about 15cm cuttings, and cut the lower end into a horse's elbow-shaped section. The cuttings were disinfected with potassium permanganate, soaked in 0.5g/L plant hormone combination (80%IBA+20%NAA) for 30 seconds, and then inserted into the place where the seedlings were cultured in loose and drained sandy fertile soil, and one bud at the upper part of the cuttings was exposed. After insertion, water is poured and covered with plastic film of molecular compounds for heating and hydration. When the seedlings grow to 15~20cm, the film can be opened and covered with sunshade net, which is suitable for watering.

(2)Twig pressing. It can be done in July and August. Select semi-lignified branches and cut them into 8-10cm long cuttings, leaving 2-3 leaves at the top. Disinfectant and rooting agent treatments for cuttings are the same as for hardwood pressing. The pressing depth is 3-4cm. After planting, water should be poured thoroughly, and a canopy should be erected to shade. The same can take root in about 20 days, then remove the film, save the sunshade net, and water it at the right time.

(4)division propagation

Before sprouting in spring or autumn, the tiller seedlings germinated at the rhizosphere of the plants are dug out with roots, and the roots and branches are properly pruned and planted separately. Small seedlings can bare roots, big seedlings should bring mud balls, tending to often prune, plastic surgery, maintain a beautiful tree shape, enhance the luxuriant flowers.

(5)grafting propagation

From late February to the first ten days of each month, the sprouts of Lagerstroemia indica branch move forward. When grafting, select strong and thick seedlings as rootstock, take branches with required colors as scions, and adopt cleavage grafting method for grafting. First, the top of the rootstock near the peripheral part of a longitudinal cut, 3-4cm deep, and then take 5- 8cm long, with 2-3 buds of scion cut into wedge, inserted into the rootstock split, aligned cambium. After that, the whole grafting part and scion are wrapped up with molecular compound plastic film, and only the bud head is exposed. Grafting branches of different colors on the same rootstock in layers by this method forms a polychromatic tree. Grafting 2-3 months later, can loose the film, at this time the ear head length can reach 50-80cm, should be cut short in time to avoid wind break, and can be cultivated into strong thick branches.

The above is the introduction of crape myrtle, crape myrtle tree beautiful, trunk smooth, bright colors, in many areas of the roadside, parks can see their figure, with high ornamental value. Crape myrtle because of long flowering period,"hundred days red" said, and "summer green cover eyes, this flower full house" praise, is a flower, view dry, view root bonsai good material.
