Spring onion, creeping rhizome stout, with many fibrous roots. Mainly produced in many provinces of China, growing in lakes, watersides, shallow ponds, swamps or wetland grass. It is cultivated in Beijing for ornamental use, and its stalks are often used as mat weaving materials in Yunnan, which has a high removal rate of organic matter, ammonia nitrogen, phosphate and heavy metals in sewage. So how to choose the seeds of spring onions? What are the methods of raising seedlings? Next, let's have a look with the editor.

First, how to choose the seeds of spring onions?

The seeds of spring onions are large and small, but when planting spring onions, you must choose healthy and full seeds to eliminate moldy or incomplete seeds to avoid affecting the emergence rate.

The seeds can be soaked in warm hot water (the temperature is about the same as facial wash) for 12-24 hours until the seeds absorb water and swell. For common seeds that are easy to germinate, this work can be avoided.

Second, what are the breeding methods of spring onions?

1. Sowing and raising seedlings

Seeds are often sown indoors from March to April. The cultivation soil is leveled and compacted, seeds are sowed on it, a layer of fine soil is sifted to cover the seeds, and the basin is shallowly submerged in water, so that the basin soil is often soaked. When the room temperature is controlled at 20-25 ℃, it can germinate and take root in about 20 days.

2. Seed treatment

For tiny seeds that are difficult to pick up with hands or other tools, wet one end of the toothpick with water, stick the seeds one by one on the surface of the matrix, cover the substrate 1 cm thick, and then put the seeding pot into the water. The depth of the water is 1-2-2-3 of the height of the flowerpot, allowing the water to soak up slowly. For larger seeds that can be picked up by hand or other tools, put the seeds directly into the substrate and order them at a distance of 3 × 3 cm.

The substrate was covered after sowing, and the thickness of the cover was 2-3 times that of the seed. After sowing, you can wet the sowing matrix with sprayers and fine-hole showers. Later, when the basin soil is slightly dry, you should still pay attention to the watering strength so as not to wash the seeds up.

3. Seedling stage management

After sowing in autumn, when you encounter a cold wave and low temperature, you can wrap the flowerpot with plastic film to keep warm and wet; after the seedlings are unearthed, the film should be opened in time, and before 9:30 every morning, or let the seedlings receive the sun after 3:30 in the afternoon, otherwise the seedlings will grow very weakly. After most of the seeds come out, they need to plant seedlings properly: pull out the diseased and unhealthy seedlings, so that the seedlings left behind have a certain space between each other; when most of the seedlings grow 3 or more leaves, they can be transplanted into the pot.

The above is the introduction of water onions, which, like other grass flowers, have more requirements for fertilizer and water, and should follow the principles of "light fertilizer applied frequently, less and more times, complete nutrition" and "dry and wet, dry and thoroughly, not dry and not watered." fertilization (water) principle.
