In the rural areas of our country, many farmers always think that in order to raise livestock and poultry well, they only need to feed more and good food, and the problem of drinking water is often ignored. It is very cheap, so it is easy to be ignored, and water is one of the main ways to transmit diseases, through which parasites, bacteria and other pathogenic factors can be transmitted. Once bad drinking water will bring great harm.

1. Provide adequate drinking water

Farms should ensure that livestock and poultry can drink water at any time when they are thirsty, that is, free drinking water. Water is the source of life, and animals' need for water is more important than the need for other nutrients. Under normal circumstances, the amount of water consumed by animals is 2-3 times that of food intake, and it is more common for farmers to drink water to livestock and poultry only when they are fed, which is not enough. When drinking water is insufficient, animal feed intake decreases, feed indigestion and absorption, blood viscosity, body temperature rise, growth and development are affected. When animals lack drinking water, they will feel thirsty, lose their appetite, and continue to lose water up to 8-10% of their body weight, which will cause metabolic disorders.

2. Keep the water appliances clean

Under the premise of clean and safe water sources, it is necessary to ensure the cleaning of drinking water appliances, regularly flush water tanks, waterlines and other drinking water systems, and regularly do a good job in drinking water disinfection. Many farms use water tanks to store water, and we should also pay attention to regularly clean up the dirt of the water tanks so as not to affect the water quality. It is recommended to use 0.1% potassium permanganate to clean and disinfect sinks and tanks regularly.

3. Provide clean and safe drinking water

Use groundwater as much as possible, that is, well water, which is both practical and economical, and the water temperature is not too low in winter. Farms (households) dig their own wells to get water, it is best to go through the inspection department tests, in line with drinking water standards before use. Although tap water is human drinking water, the bleach put in for sterilization is harmful to animal health and growth after drinking. If you want to use tap water, put it in a bucket and store it for animals to drink after half an hour, so that the bleach has a process of releasing chlorine atoms. It is not suitable for livestock and poultry to drink stagnant water in ponds and ditches, industrial water or recycled water, ice and snow water, river water, hogwash, waste water and so on.

Note: drinking water refers to water that can be directly supplied to the human body without treatment. Water is the main component of body fluid and an important substance that makes up cells, tissue fluid, plasma and so on. Water, as the medium of all chemical reactions in the body, is the platform for the transport of various nutrients and substances.
