Donkey is a single-stomach herbivore, and its digestive ability is far lower than that of cattle, sheep and other compound-stomach herbivores, so donkeys have higher requirements for feed. In the process of raising donkeys, only by meeting their feeding and nutritional needs can they grow rapidly! What kind of forage does the donkey eat to grow fast? How to match the concentrate feed?

1. Selection of roughage

After feeding on the forage, the donkey enters the intestinal tract for fermentation, decomposition and absorption directly after temporary storage and preliminary decomposition in the stomach. Because the forage can not be fully decomposed by ruminating and rumen microflora like cattle and sheep, if the forage is too soft, it is easy to form grass clumps in the intestines and cause intestinal obstruction (commonly known as "knot"). Donkeys must be dry, hard and brittle to eat fodder.

Reed: Reed is a green feed rich in all kinds of vitamins and minerals, and has strong grass flavor, low water content, high hardness and good brittleness, so it is the best forage resource for raising donkeys. In Shandong Dongying, Hebei Baoding and other places due to the rich local Reed resources, thus driving the rapid development of small and medium-sized donkey farmers.

Cereal straw: cereal straw is the straw of cereal crops, which accords with the characteristics of dry, hard and brittle, and is the most suitable crop straw for raising donkeys. Shanxi, Shaanxi and other cereal crop producing areas are rich in cereal grass resources, local farmers can make full use of cereal grass resources to develop donkey breeding.

Soybean straw: due to the wide planting area of soybean, coupled with the characteristics of dry, hard and brittle, it is the most commonly used forage resource for raising donkeys. However, its hardness is too high, it needs to be crushed before it can be fed to the donkey, generally the crushing length is 2mm to 4mm.

Silage corn straw: although silage corn straw is not the best forage for raising donkeys, it accords with the characteristics of hard and brittle and has high yield, so it can be mixed with other forages for feeding. However, dry corn straw is generally not suitable to be used as donkey feed because of its hard skin and soft interior.

2. Selection of concentrate feed

Roughage can not provide too much nutrition to the donkey, but also need to be fed with a certain amount of concentrate. In general, the amount of concentrate feed for breeding donkeys accounts for 15%-30% of the total diet, and the amount of concentrate feed for fattening donkeys accounts for 40%-60% of the total diet.

Concentrate feed formula (breeding donkey): 59% corn, 20% soybean meal, 15% wheat bran, 4% premix, 0.8% salt, 1.2% shell powder.

Concentrate feed formula (fattening donkey): 55% corn, 25% soybean meal, 14% wheat bran, 4% premix, 0.5% salt, 1.5% shell powder.

Substitute: there are few donkeys on the market. If you don't want to make your own ingredients, you can use cow, sheep or pig feed instead.

Choose a good variety of donkey, use high-quality feed to feed the donkey, the donkey must be able to grow quickly!
