The tortoise belongs to the family Tortoise and a species of the genus tortoise. Is one of the common turtles. Now many people like to keep turtles at home and keep them as pets, so do you know how turtles are raised? What kind of food does it eat? Are there any breeding requirements? If you know all this, you can really be a breeder.

How do you raise turtles?

1. Choose a fish tank suitable for turtles.

two。 Do not buy too small fish tank to raise turtles, the size of the fish tank as far as possible more than 5 times larger than the turtle.

3. Amount of water: don't let it soak in water all the time, as long as the water is half of its body.

4. Put some sand or stones in the fish tank to help the turtles bask in their backs and ventilate. Can avoid tortoise rotten armor. Change the water every week.

5. Lighting: keep the tortoise within reach of the sun, but avoid exposure to the tortoise. There should be shady places and pools or basins for rest and play. The amount of exercise of the tortoise is relatively large, and proper movement of the tortoise's muscles and bones is conducive to the development of bones.

What kind of food does the turtle eat?

Turtles are omnivores. Not only eat animal feed, such as small fish, shrimp, snails, clams, earthworms, maggots, scraps of livestock, but also eat plant feed, such as tubers, vegetables, grains, aquatic plants and so on. In the case of artificial breeding, they also eat peanut cakes, bean cakes and so on. However, the tortoise's hunger tolerance is so strong that it will not starve to death without eating for several years.

Generally, the food can be fed once every 3 days, and the feeding amount can be increased or decreased according to the size of the tortoise. It can be fed at 5% to 10% of its body weight, and can be increased appropriately when the temperature is moderate in spring and autumn and its appetite is strong. In addition, before winter comes, feed more than usual to prepare enough nutrients for hibernation.

The food to be fed should be fresh, especially in summer when the temperature is very high, animal feed is prone to heat deterioration and should not be fed overnight, nor frozen feed in cold winter to prevent diseases such as indigestion. After feeding, if you find any surplus food, you should clean it up in time to avoid polluting the water quality and its living environment, which should be paid special attention to in summer.

1. Timing. The temperature is relatively low in spring and autumn, and turtles only feed around noon, so it is advisable to feed at 819 am. It is the peak feeding season for turtles from Grain Rain to the Autumn Equinox, which is in the height of summer. Turtles are usually inactive at noon and mostly foraging at 17-19 p.m., so it is appropriate to feed at 16-17 p.m. Timing can make turtles feed on time and get more nutrition.

two。 Location. A fixed feeding point is set up along the bank of the pool, and the table of the feeding point should be close to the water surface to facilitate the turtle to swallow water and bite. The purpose of feeding the turtle is to make it easy to find food and observe the condition of the tortoise.

3. Quality determination. The feed should be kept fresh. After feeding, the leftover food should be removed in time to prevent the feed from rotting and smelling, affecting the turtle's appetite and polluting the water quality.

4. Quantitative. The amount of feed depends on the temperature, water quality, the turtle's appetite and its activities, depending on the appetite and its activities, and it is appropriate to have a little surplus during the meal. Usually take food every 1 or 2 days.

What are the breeding requirements for turtles?

1. Use water

The water used for raising turtles should not be too much or too deep. Generally, it only needs 2 to 3 centimeters, which is equal to the back of the tortoise. During feeding, whether to change water should be decided according to the cleanliness of the water quality, and water should be changed when the water quality is found to be polluted or turbid. In summer, water should be changed frequently, but less in winter, and it should not be changed more when hibernating, and the temperature of new water should be 2 / 2 ℃ higher than usual. When the temperature begins to cool in autumn, the vats and pots should be placed in a warm place with shelter from the wind and sunshine. For weak and sick turtles, the water should be heated to about 20 ℃ when cold, and maintenance should be given. The method of heating can be irradiated by an incandescent lamp of 100 to 150 watts.

two。 Temperature

Some people say that turtles are cold-blooded, which is wrong. The tortoise is a kind of variable temperature animal. When the water temperature drops below 15 ℃, the tortoise lies still at the bottom and begins to hibernate. At the turn of spring and summer, when the water temperature rises to more than 15 ℃, they begin to move and look for food. The most suitable temperature for turtles is 2530 ℃. When the water temperature is more than 35 ℃, the turtle will stop feeding because the water temperature is too high, so June to August is the peak feeding season for turtles, and the food intake decreases accordingly before May or after September. When the tortoise hibernates, do not let it all in the water, should make it in the wet sand, and give it about 15 ℃ environment (should not be too high). In April of the following year, the food will be fed when the temperature rises to 20 ℃.

3. Disease prevention and cure

Turtles are often disinfected with potassium permanganate solution, and proper amount of oxytetracycline or dysentery is added to the feed, which has a good effect on tortoise disease prevention. In addition, it is necessary to prevent the invasion of turtles by rats, snakes, cats and other enemies. Some people say that turtles are cold-blooded, which is wrong.
