We call pigs that have grown to about 30 kilograms as piglets. Many pig farms are raised by imported piglets, in addition to the yellow and white dysentery and edema disease caused by Escherichia coli, as well as paratyphoid fever, piglet anemia, most other infectious diseases and parasitic diseases can be infected in the fattening stage, and the incidence rate is far beyond the piglet stage, which poses a great threat to the pig industry. So the vast number of pig farmers and farms should pay attention to: how to select piglets? How to prevent common infectious diseases and parasitic diseases? You'll know when you read it.

So what are the specific methods?

1. Do a good job of immunization against infectious diseases according to the procedure. For newly purchased weaned piglets, we should carefully understand their epidemic prevention and carry out necessary vaccine prevention; for some seasonal infectious diseases, pigs should be immunized one month in advance; for infectious diseases for which there is no effective vaccine at present, drug prevention should be carried out 15 days in advance.

2. Drug deworming is carried out regularly. Parasitic diseases are very harmful to fattening pigs, in addition to intestinal parasites, porcine cysticercosis, toxoplasmosis, eperythrozoonosis and so on. Toxoplasmosis can also cause seasonal and regional epidemics. At present, there is no effective vaccine for most parasitic diseases and must be regularly dewormed and prevented by drugs. The feces of pig farms should be accumulated and fermented, and biological heat should be used to kill insect eggs.

3. To prevent common diseases by strengthening feeding and management. Many common diseases, such as trace element deficiency, vitamin deficiency and fungal poisoning, can be prevented by feeding high-quality full-price formula feed. Therefore, the nutrition and sanitation of feed and drinking water should be strengthened.

4. Some infectious diseases can be prevented by adding drugs.

5. Abide by the strict sanitary disinfection system. The enclosure of the intensive pig farm is easy to clean and disinfect because of its good facilities. The sanitary condition of the free-range enclosure of farmers is poor, so they must clean and pad new soil or grass frequently, accumulate and ferment feces, often spray the enclosure with disinfectant, and thoroughly disinfect the ceiling, inner and outer walls and passageways of the enclosure regularly. If possible, the doors and windows of the enclosure and the activity field should be fitted with screen windows to separate mosquitoes and flies to reduce the incidence of disease.

In addition to doing a good job in disease prevention, the most important thing is to select piglets with good health and good breeds. If you want to pick a good piglet, do it eight times:

1. Look at the spirit, the spirit is lively, the eyes are bright, the tail wags freely, and the cry is crisp.

2, look at the feces, pull the feces into a mass, soft and moderate, no mucus.

3, look at the skin, the fur is ruddy, no erythema, ringworm spot.

4. look at the appearance, no trauma or deformity.

5. Looking at the breed, in recent years, it is more common to use Landrace, Yorkshire and local sows to produce piglets, and some use Duroc to cross with binary hybrid sows to produce ternary hybrid pigs. Piglets belonging to Landrace hybrids in White-haired crossbred pigs are generally characterized by capillarity, long mouth, slightly larger ears, and forward sloping. The waist is slender and long. The crossbred piglet of York has a slightly longer mouth, an equal oblique position in the ear, and a slightly thick and long body. The ones with brown fine hair and black patches are Duroc hybrid piglets. The binary hybrid pig has strong adaptability, fast growth, high lean meat rate and good sales. The choice is more ideal. Three-way hybrid piglets, which contain less blood of local pigs, require high conditions and are not easy to raise. But lean meat, fast growth, good conditions, raise three-way hybrid piglets.

6. depending on the figure, piglets with wide mouth, deep fork, wide forehead, large eyes, thin auricle, stiff ear root, double ridges, thin elastic skin, slightly sparse hair, long waist, deep chest, wide buttocks and slightly higher limbs are generally selected.

7. Look at the source of piglets, understand the source of piglets, and see if they come from non-epidemic areas.

8. Look at the proof of prevention and quarantine. In recent years, local veterinary departments have attached great importance to prevention and inspection. Piglets should be quarantined according to regulations and quarantined before transportation. When piglets are transported, they can check and see the inspection certificate from the consignor.
