The Chinese Sturgeon, also known as the Yellow Sturgeon, is an important wild conservation animal in China. It is widely farmed because of its high medicinal value and scientific research value. But if you want to raise the Chinese Sturgeon well, you need to understand its living characteristics. Where are the Chinese Sturgeon mainly distributed? How long will you live? What did you eat to grow up?

Where is it distributed?

Chinese Sturgeon (Acipenser sinensis), which lives in large rivers and coastal waters, is a bottom fish with migratory or semi-migratory nature. From May to June in spring and summer, the Xi cluster gathered in the estuary, and in autumn it went up to the upper reaches of the river. In ancient times, there are: "out of the deep waters of the Yangtze River, Huaihe River, Yellow River and Liaohai", "its residence is also between rockfill turbulence".

Mainly distributed in China, Japan, South Korea, Lao people's Democratic Republic and North Korea.

Chinese Sturgeon is the only species of Sturgeon that crosses the Tropic of Cancer. It was once mainly distributed in the coastal areas south of the west coast of the Korean Peninsula and major rivers. The mainstream of the Yangtze River in China is below the Jinsha River to the estuary. Other river systems such as Ganjiang River, Xiangjiang River, Minjiang River, Qiantang River and Pearl River are occasionally found, and more are produced in the Yangtze River.

How long will you live?

The life cycle of Chinese Sturgeon is longer, and the longest life span is up to 40 years old. It is not only a key protected wild animal in China, but also a living fossil, known as "giant panda in the water". It has high scientific research, medicinal and ornamental value.

What did you eat to grow up?

Omnivorous fish mainly based on animal food, mainly feed on some small or slow-moving benthos, including shrimp and crabs, fish, molluscs and aquatic insects. Due to different kinds of food in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River, young fish mainly feed on Chironomus larvae, dragonfly larvae, mayfly larvae and plant debris, while young fish in the salty waters of the estuary feed on shrimp, crabs and small fish. The parent fish do not eat during the migration. In the offshore waters outside the Yangtze River Estuary, the feeding intensity of Chinese Sturgeon increases, usually at grade 3-4, and the food is mainly fish and crabs, as well as shrimp and cephalopods.
