Last Updated: 2024/11/22, Yulu is a succulent plant of the genus Artemisia of the Afu family. The plant is exquisite and small, the leaf color is glittering and translucent, and it is rich in variety. It is one of the most popular small succulent plants in China in recent years. Will Yulu blossom? What are the breeding methods? According to Miss Wu, a flower friend,

Yulu is a succulent plant belonging to the genus Lepisorus of the family Artholochiaceae. It is small and exquisite, with crystal clear leaves and rich changes. It is one of the small succulent plants popular in China in recent years. Will the dew bloom? What are the breeding methods? According to flower friend Miss Wu introduced, jade dew is flowering, but jade dew is not a flower plant, flowers are not good-looking.

Will the flower die?

Yulu would not die after flowering. However, as mentioned in question 1, Yulu's flowers were not good-looking. Moreover, when they bloomed, they would consume nutrients, so most flower friends would choose to cut off the flowering branches. However, some flower friends wanted to harvest seeds. Here, they needed to tell the flower friends that Yulu needed cross-pollination to bear seeds.

The cultivation method of jade dew

Yulu likes cool and semi-shady environment, mainly grows in spring and autumn, and is an "intermediate" variety of succulent plants. Drought resistance, not cold, avoid high temperature and humidity and sun exposure, afraid of shade, but also afraid of soil water.

1. Light: Sufficient light should be given during the growth period. If too much shade, it will cause loose plant shape, not compact, thin leaves,"window" transparency is poor; if the light is too strong, the leaves grow poorly, light reddish-brown, sometimes strong direct sunlight will burn the leaves, leaving ugly spots; plants growing in the shade, the leaves are plump and full, and the transparency is high.

2. Water: growth period watering master "do not dry water, water is poured thoroughly." Avoid ponding, not rain, especially long-term rain, these are to avoid rotten roots; but also not long-term drought, otherwise the plant will not die, but the leaves are withered, the leaf color is dull, lack of vitality. Yulu likes to have a certain air humidity environment, when the air is dry, it can often spray water to the plant and the surrounding environment to increase the air humidity. In the growing season, it can also be used to cut off the upper half of the transparent colorless beverage bottle to cover the plant for maintenance, so that it grows in a small environment with humid air. This can make the leaves full, and the transparency of the "window" is also higher. However, in the summer high temperature season, it is necessary to remove the beverage bottle, so as not to cause the plant to die due to sultry humidity.

3. Fertilizer: In the growth period, the plants with vigorous growth shall be applied with decomposed thin liquid fertilizer or compound fertilizer with low nitrogen and high phosphorus and potassium once a month, and the plants newly potted or the plants with weak growth shall not be applied with fertilizer; the dormant period when the temperature is high in summer or low in winter shall not be applied with fertilizer. Fertilization time should choose sunny morning or evening.

Matters needing attention in maintaining jade dew:

1. Root: Because the root system of Yulu will secrete acidic substances, it will cause soil acidification and make the root aging hollow. It can be replaced once a year in spring or autumn. If the growth period found that plant growth stagnation, withered leaves, it is likely that the root system damage, should be timely pot finishing roots. When turning pots, cut off the old, hollow roots, cut off the long roots, keep the thick white new roots, and then plant them with new culture soil. Newly planted plants can be sprayed frequently, but less watering, so that plants can resume growth as soon as possible.

2. Soil: loose fertile soil requirements, good drainage permeability, containing calcareous, and have coarse particles. Usually planted in a mixture of 2 parts of moldy soil and 3 parts of coarse sand or vermiculite, and mixed with a small amount of calcareous materials such as bone meal. For high-grade varieties such as Yulu Shoujin and Maoyulu, artificial synthetic materials such as red jade soil, blue stone, plant gold stone and Samo soil can also be planted, but proper amount of peat or peat soil should be added to increase the organic matter content of soil.

3. Flowers: The ornamental value of Yulu flowers is not high. If no seeds are left, the flower scape can be pulled out from the base to avoid consuming too much nutrients and affecting the normal growth of plants. It should be noted that the flower scape should not be cut with scissors, but should be pulled out by hand, so as to avoid residual pedicels remaining between leaves and leaves, which will adversely affect the growth of new leaves in the future.

What happens when the dew dries up? How?

1. The reason why the jade dew leaves are dried up

1. Root dysplasia

The newly obtained jade dew is withered. First of all, we should consider whether the root is not well developed. Because the root system cannot absorb nutrients in the soil, the jade dew will rely on the nutrients of the leaves to supply itself, so it will lead to the leaf drying. If we find that the jade dew has not grown for a long time during the planting process, and the leaf drying phenomenon appears, we can consider digging out the jade dew for soil culture.

2. illumination

Jade dew likes cool lighting environment, if the temperature is too hot, jade dew has been in a strong light environment, then there may be withered leaves phenomenon.

3. humidity

Many forums have introduced the method of keeping jade dew. In fact, keeping jade dew is to provide a high humidity environment for the maintenance of jade dew. The leaves of jade dew raised in a high humidity environment will be more watery and plump. If the environment in which jade dew grows is too dry, moisture cannot reach the leaves, and it is easy to dry the leaves.

4. water

Yulu is a shallow root plant, the cultivation process does not need to be very deep basin, soil should also be loose, good drainage. In the process of watering, it is necessary to prevent the occurrence of ponding, because the pot soil ponding, jade dew easy to appear rotten roots, leaves absorb no nutrients, appear shrinkage, and then dry death.

5. rain

The leaves of Yulu were crystal clear and full, but this did not mean that Yulu could withstand the rain. After the rain, the rain would slide down along the leaves and gather at the roots, causing water to accumulate at the roots, which would easily lead to root rot.

6. freezing

Jade dew likes shade, but it is not cold-resistant. In winter, the jade dew cultivated indoors will be frozen because of the low temperature at night, and the leaves of the jade dew will dry up after freezing.

Second, how to recover after the jade dew dries

There are many reasons for the drying of jade dew, so the treatment methods after the discovery of jade dew drying are also different, mainly the following methods:

1. If the leaves shrivel due to excessive watering or rotten roots after rain, the plants can be dug up directly and replanted in different pots. The newly replaced pot soil only needs to be slightly damp, the rotten root parts should be completely removed, some root parts can also be peeled off, so that the stems of the plants are exposed, and the withered leaves need to be cut off to prevent them from continuing to absorb nutrients, and then wait for the plants to grow roots again.

2. After freezing, the leaves dry, also need to cut off its dry leaves, the same reason, and then put the plant in the sun to dry, preferably behind a screen or colored glass, because also to avoid direct light brought burns.
