The peacock is more than 2 meters long, of which the tail screen is about 1.5 meters, which is the largest of the chicken-shaped order. Living in the open area of the forest, omnivorous, 1 male and female. How can peacock seedlings be divided into male and female? When do you usually breed? How to reproduce and hatch?

How can peacock seedlings be divided into male and female?

1. Some males have distances on their feet, and their mother's feathers are somewhat green.

2. watch the legs of the birds, look at the pointed protuberances of the metatarsals attached to the legs of the birds, some of which are male, not female.

3. You can see it by putting the bird in your hand and turning over to blow the urethra with your mouth.

When do peacocks usually breed?

1. The breeding time of peacocks is generally between June and September, of course, for example, if it is raised in captivity, then the breeding period may be advanced or extended.

2. Generally, female peacocks begin to lay eggs about half a month after mating. After laying eggs, dig a nest with sand in the corner of the wall for peacocks to lay eggs.

How do peacocks breed and hatch?

Courtship and laying eggs

Under the condition of artificial feeding, the peacock reached sexual maturity at 22 months old and began to breed at the end of spring every year. This is the male peacock's feathers are particularly bright, often chasing around the female peacock and the gorgeous tail of the feather spread into a fan, constantly shaking (that is, "opening the screen") for as long as 5-7 minutes. From mid-April to early July, females begin to lay eggs and can lay 20 to 30 eggs a year. The eggshell is thick and strong, milky white, brown or yellow, without spots. The egg weighs 120 to 140 grams. Female birds usually lay an egg every other day, mostly in the morning and evening, so the breeders should pick up the eggs in time. Eggs should be properly stored in a well-ventilated place, the temperature should be kept at 10 ℃ ~ 15 ℃, and should be hatched as soon as possible, preferably not more than a week.

Second, natural hatching

The advantage of using nesting chickens to hatch is that the equipment is simple and does not take a lot of time and labor to manage. Hens with good health, plump feathers, moderate size, dexterity and love of nests should be selected. Generally speaking, each nesting chicken can hatch 4-5 peacocks. During the incubation period, the nesting chickens are released twice a day in the morning and afternoon, and clean water is provided at the same time. Feed hunger-resistant grains, not soft materials. The eggs were examined on the 7th, 14th and 21st day of incubation, and the azoospermic eggs, stillborn eggs and stillborn eggs were taken out in time. When hatching, we should pay attention to the response of nestling chickens and take out artificial brooding in time. The incubation period of peacocks is 26-27 days.

Third, artificial hatching

The principle and technical operation of peacock artificial hatching are basically the same as those of chickens. The hatching conditions can be mastered with reference to the following requirements.

1. Temperature: the temperature in the plane incubator is 38.5 ℃ ~ 39.5 ℃, that in the three-dimensional incubator is 37.5 ℃ ~ 38 ℃, and the temperature in the incubator room is 24 ℃ ~ 27 ℃. The temperature should be kept as steady as possible, not from high to low.

2. Humidity: the relative humidity is 60%-75%, which is mainly adjusted by the water plate in the incubator.

3. Turning eggs: turn eggs regularly every day, usually once every 2-4 hours, starting from hatching to stopping before falling plate.

4. Drying eggs: according to the date of hatching. The embryo should not be dried more in the early stage, which is usually 5-15 minutes; in the later stage, the time can be extended to 20-30 minutes. The length of time for drying eggs should be determined according to the temperature and room temperature of the eggs.
